Default Thought I should introduce myself

Hello to everyone. I have been reading threads from the forum off and on for almost 3 years. 9-15 will be my 3rd anniverary. I have enjoyed them all. I didn't visit for a long time. You are all so insightful and caring. I have done this on my own and for along time that was o.k. but lately I have felt...well alone. No one really knows what it is like unless you have had wls, or you are going to have it and then you have at least an understanding. I hate my body... o.k. the loose skin on my body(ya big surprise), the stupid mind games I play with myself... the head hunger that comes from being unhappy, and bored. Anyway I have replied to a few threads and thought it would be a good idea if I introduced myself to you all. I am 43 years old/young, depending on how you look at it. I have four children...28, 23, 17,& 14. Male, male, female & male. My family loves sports, especially basketball. We love the beach, and I enjoy long walks by myself on the shore while the rest of the family is body boarding. We enjoy board, card, and dice games. We have 2 dogs, one outdoor cat, and one indoor kitten (thank you Spicyeyes99.) I love to read!!! I love the quiet, but I work well under choas, pressure, and stress. I love to cook and bake for people. I love to take recipes and make them my own, as well as create my own. I quilt, although I have not done so for at least a year. I like a wide variety of music.. I went to a Black Eyed Peas concert.. front row center with...my daughter!!!*gasp* We had a blast!!! Anyway I could go on and on, I look forward to getting to know you all.
P.S. I tend to get wordy...--SORRY-- in advance!

Default Welcome to the board!!

I remember when I was going to have my surgery, a good friend who had inspired me to have it done said, "Thank God - I'll have someone who UNDERSTANDS!!" I wondered what the big deal was - but after a year, I think I get it.

Yea - it is fun here. You can ask anything. I feel very at home and have had my cyber hand held every step of the way.

Welcome to the board. I'm so glad you have come and introduced yourself. I think talking with others who understand is so important on this journey, at any stage. We all have times of feeling alone and it is nice to know that there are others who understand.

Glad to meet you! It sounds like you have integrated your body changes into your life well, and are taking good care of your spirit by joining us on the board. The people here are the very best, and I don't know where I'd be without them. There is nothing we can't discuss and haven't discussed. Our love is tender and tough and absolutely genuine.

One of my very favorite books, The Fifth Sacred Thing, by Starhawk, has a wonderful quote in it that I attempt to live by.

"There is room for you at our table, if you will choose to join us."

Says it all for me. Welcome to our table!

Default Welcome Bettina

Thanks for joining in! We need all the expertise that we can get. Your story about how it's been, what has worked and what is tough helps all of us. Appreciate your openess in sharing. Head hunger sneaks up on me also. I've learned ways to handle it on this forum and sometimes they work! Keep sharing your successes and challenges, we all benefit. Again, welcome!
