Default Undecided

I finally made the decision to go with surgery. I just don't know which surgery I should do. I'm leaning towards Gastric By-pass over the Lapband procedure. I have my first meeting with my doctor on July 23rd. I hope to god he's a good one...lol

Definitely do all of your research, but just a little tidbit of information from the peanut gallery. My surgeon just got back from a week-long conference and he told me that apparently 40% of all lap band surgeries done in the US are removed within (if I remember correctly) 5 years due to some sort of complication. I think this statistic is not as high for surgeries done in Europe, but they don't know why it's so bad here.

That being said, I know a lot of people would defend the lap band to the end, so there you go!

Now that you have made the decision that weight loss surgery is right for you, you will also make the right decision regarding which procedure is best for you. Inform yourself with all the facts, read, read and read some more! Ask questions until you are satisfied you understand. This place has an awesome amount of experience and information for you. Do the same with your doctor, ask all the questions you want. Best wishes on this remarkable journey. Welcome to our TT family!

I too was undecided. I went to an information session and both were discussed in detail. That is when I made my decision. It was very helpful! Good luck! Renee
