An August 2, 2007 Date With Destiny.
Greetings Everyone!!
I'm Linda, 49 Years Old, Feel 100 Years Old, And My Mind Is 21 Years Old!!
I Am Scheduled To Have The Gastric Bypass Operation On August 2,2007!! Unfortunately, I Am Having Trouble Overeating Instead Of Preparing My Body And Mind For Surgery.(surprise, Surprise!!) I Need To Focus On My Goal, But I Find Myself Panicking At Times And Continue To Yoyo As The Time Gets Closer To Surgery. I Really Hope That This Is Not An Indication Of What's To Come. Any Encouraging Words Would Be Of Comfort To Me. Thanks.
This Is My One And Only Support Group....i Need An Extended Family!!

Welcome...
If it makes you feel any better.. I did VERY well with the pre-op diet.. right up until I had a date... now.. I have been not so good.... not gaining yet because I joined a gym.. but.. I know im not doing as well.. HOWEVER.. I also KNOW I am going to rock this tool.. andfollow all the rules once I have it.... so Im not sweating the eating stuff!
Grats on the date.. Keep us posted... (and I love this support group.. I also love the face to face one I go to... its fun to watch people shrink!)

Same surgery date! Whoa!
Blondie,
We have the same date for surgery! I bought a very good book from Amazon Books that deals with what you (and I) and others are going through. It's "Weight Loss Surgery For Dummies" I'm only into the 3rd chapter and I've learned a lot that I didn't know before.
I'm not too worried about my eating habits yet. I won't begin my pre-op diet until 7/19.....liquids, vegies and fruits...protein shakes. Then 2 days before, clear liquids. I must admit I sometimes wonder if I can discipline myself to stick with the pre-op diet stage and then I look at my granddaughter and know I need to try my darnest to stick with this all the way. When she puts her arm around my neck and tells me she loves her "Grancrackers" I melt. I want to be able to grow old and be there for her in all ways. Not confined to a wheelchair or a bed (I'm not now)
So my advice would be....buy that book....and focus on the important people, places, etc in your life. Our surgeries will give us a chance to live life to it's fullest. Maybe by having that focus we can stick to the pre-op diet.
I'm sorry for rambling....
From one blond to another...

Yikes,
Welcome! Everyone gets a little overwhelmed with nerves before the big day...read, read, read...ask questions when you have them...and don't gain too much, you don't want them cancelling your surgery! It really is best if you lose a little before your surgery, because it shrinks your liver, making it easier for the surgeon to get around in there...

Hi Blondie!
Welcome to the "club." Great people and great information here. You say your 49 and feel like 100? I KNOW how you feel! But, let me tell you, the surgery will definately help that! I'm not even 4 weeks post-op and I've not felt this good physically in years!
Want some encouraging words?
How's this ...
