I found my own surgeon. I went to my PCP after I went to a seminar and said this is what I want to do. She was supportive. I have been meeting with her for my monthly weigh ins and diet supervision. She has been really cool about the entire thing. Maybe I have different insurance than you. I did not need a referral for the surgeon. Once I met with the surgeon for the first time, he gave me all of my pre-ops to complete. I am sure everyone goes through different hoops. Maybe this is how your PCP does the process. Keep up with it... it will all be worth it in the end! Take care, Renee

Oh yeah I could have just gone to a surgeon myself but I know that there are a lot of hoops to go through so I found my pcp first. I know that this may be a 6 months process just to get an approval and I think that is great because it will help me prepare and start the changes that needs to be done.

My PCP gave me the referral I told her I wanted... I did all the research.. and she just gave me the piece of paper. I Didnt NEED a referral... I just figured it would speed things up.
