Smile Newbie Here

I have been 'lurking' off-and-on for the past 3 weeks. I started looking into having wls about a year ago and decided not to get it done at the time for insurance reasons. Back in April I decided to have another go at it and did everything required of me (psych eval, ECG) as well as tracked down my weight history for the ins company.

This past Saturday I received the approval letter from the insurance company, and I am here for help and to help others.

I live in Melvindale, Michigan (close to Detroit) and am going to the Barix Clinic at the Forest Medical Clinic in Ypsilanti, Michigan for my surgery, my surgeon is Dr. David Kam.

Gary, welcome to the forum! So glad you have come out of the lurking mode. I'm from Michigan too but on the other side of the state. I've heard good things about the Barix Clinic. Congratulations on the approval. Let us know when you get your date and feel free to ask questions. You've found a great forum family here that loves to help!

Hi Gary!

I'm a newbie myself so I don't know that I have much to offer at the moment.

Just know I'm right there with you.

Default Welcome!!!

Welcome!!

I have never been a fan of forums because they always seem to break down into childish bickering, name calling, etc, but there is something very different (and special) about this one.

I think that, because the morbidly obese have endured a lot of embarassment, ridicule, etc. we tend to be a lot more considerate of other people's feelings. It is very positive here.

You're going to feel at home.
