Welcome! You've come to the right place! Everyone has given you great advise - read and be informed! The decision is yours, as is the responsibility and the consequences of that decision. The more information you have, the better. Keep reading! Good Luck!!

Thank you for the great welcome - I appreciate it.

Today's first class wasn't so bad - I'm a little numb with all the information given but I've now got 7 other steps to go through that will elaborate on todays introduction:

Nutrition Clinic
Occupational Therapy Clinic
Support Group
Weight Managment for Healthy Lifestyle
Goal Setting
Living Well with Stress
Communication Styles

I was told that only the Nutrition and Weight Management were essential for me but I've decided that I'd really like to go through the others too.

I've just ordered a pedometer from Amazon and am now busily searching for the vitamins and minerals that they'd like me to start straight away:

Calcium Citrate
Multivitamins
Folic Acid
Vitamin D
Vitamin B (1, 2, 3, 6, 12)
Biotin

I was told to get chewable or liquid but that's proving difficult cause I'm probably not looking in the right place.

I have found "Tropical Oasis Tropical Plus Multiple-Vitamin/Mineral" and "Tropical Oasis Liquid Calcium Magnesium" at vitacost.com

Those two seem to cover what's on my list but I'm open to suggestions.

Again, thanks to everyone - it's doesn't seem half as daunting knowing that you guys have been down the road before me.

Default newbie: I think I found a lifelong answer overweight most of my 52 years

I joined weight watchers when I was 12 years old failed at it for 40 years:: In 1995 I started taking Redux and lost 100 lbs. It went off the market and I went on Merida. The merida was not half as good at helping with my appetite control.I was taken off merida, due to high blood pressure ! I am now bigger then ever. eek I know yall have felt the HURT,saddness and helplessness as the weight piles on. It has been a a nightmare. I have literally tried every diet known to mankind but failed at them miserably.I was thinner in the years 1995-2005, when I lost weight due to redux. It was a great feeling, getting into great clothing and just feelings overall of feeling better and stronger. How do I express of how my self esteem and self image has taken hit after hit.? insult after insult from normally thin people...? I have a closet full of size 4 jeans that fit for 4 years ,now they won't even advance over my calves.I received a call from my surgeon and will meet with him July 19th.I am ready to do something about this sad feeling of helplessness and "not good enough".I was just wondering what the first meeting and those following will be like? Thanks in advance Gypsyheart

Dear one...we have all been there!!! I was put on a diet when I was 4 years old and felt like a failure ever since. Lord knows I lost and 50 pounds 50 times only to gain 75 and finally 100 pounds. Always a big girl, I felt it in my bones...structeral break down I called it...knees, back, hips all giving out...too much weight. I made the choice and yes, it comes with some harsh realities. The surgery can and often does have complications and yes, those of us on this board say...I would do it again in a minute, but there are some who have a harder go of it...it can be amazing the transformation and it does require hard work and dedication...good luck with your choice....its an amazing journey! and we are here for you!!

Default welcome

Corrine

Welcome to the forum family. I just had a 12 inch esophageal hernia repaired with my GBS. You will not belive how much better you will feel without it. I had it repaired before but it was an older operation that didn't work very well. If you have any questions for me just ask, this is a wonderful board and everyone is so supportive.

Smile hello

you are in a great group the people here are great. if you haveany questions there is someone here that has probably had the same one as you and all you have to do is ask. I started this journey last June and I'm waiting for insurance approval. That seems to be the longest step. Just keep your head up and welcome to the group.
