Default Thank God For This Forum

Hello my name is Bruce and I just had my lap bypass done last wednesday. The surgery went almost perfect, they found out the day after my surgery during my swallowing test that nothing was passing through my pouch So I had to go back into surgery and have that fixed the next day. After that I spent 2 days in the hospital and They sent me home with my bottle of Roxicet and my instructions and said well see you in 2 weeks. Well I got home and started going nuts with hunger and pain. I thought I made the biggest mistake of my life, I couldnt call the Dr. or anyone because it was laborday weekend. Then I got on the computer did a little googling around and came accross this place and let me tell you it is a God send. Everthing I was experiencing is all normal Im not the only one, I just sit on here and read for hours and this is the best therapy I could ever have. Thank You all for being here, I mean that!!!

Anyway I am 32 years old and was a Paramedic for 12 years until I destroyed my back. I am currently a full time student at Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics.

I have been struggling with my weight for as long as I can remember and have tried everything to lose it. The best I ever did was I lost 100lbs using Meridia but I grew a tolerance to the drug and the weight came back really quick. That was 5 years ago. After having surgery to repair my back i figured I better lose weight, so after some research I made the decision to do this. I started my journey for surgery in September of 2006 with the first Dr. appointment and it was a blur of tests and studies after that until May 23 (my surgery date). Anyway this is just a small glimpse into my life and what is going on, again Thank you to everyone on here for their time and their advise. Im here to stay... Bruce

your weight will just fall off, ignore the head hunger and start to listen to your body. I still have portion control problems, I will take to much and have to leave it on my plate. If you eat to much your new tool will get very upset.

Welcome Bruce! I am also from Pittsburgh, and I just had my consut with Dr. Ramanathan (same practice as your dr.) today at Magee. It looks like I should be having my surgery in Oct./Nov. Wishing you all the luck! Renee
