Default newbie.. 30 days until wls

Hello. This is my first time posting in a forum like this so I hope I get the hang of it! I am scheduled to have my surgery June 25th. I don't have a very strong support system and thought this would be a great place to meet people who have been where I am at! I am really excited (and scared). I have been reading posts off and on all day! I have noticed there is so much I do not know, even about pre-op! I go this Friday to talk to someone who will schedule my appts with the nutritionalist, psyc eval, and such. They are also doing my chest x-ray, ekg, blood work, etc.... I had decided to postpone my surgery at a few weeks ago a month or so and found out if I did that I would have to wait over 6 months! I am completely sure about this but a little apprehensive about the fact that there is so much I dont know. I have "educated myself" on the surgery, or so I thought. Anyway, I hope to make new friends and learn a lot. Thanks for allowing me on board!

Welcome to the forum, Kelly!

Yes, everything can seem overwhelming. WLS is such a huge decision but you've made a good decision in coming here. You will learn a lot. There are people here who have had all kinds of experiences so ASK QUESTIONS! That's one of the best things you can do for yourself.

Welcome Kelly:
We are excited for you and if you read Beth's personal storie, Lisaboston, and Carrie you get a wealth of info. We were really touched by each story and used them in our decision.

Thank you to everyone for the warm welcome! I feel like I know some of you already as I have read so much here the last few days. I am going to take the advice and read as many of your personal stories as I can find. That should better prepare me for the road ahead. When I see the weight loss you all have accomplished it gives me so much hope and gets me so excited. Hard to believe that I have this whole new life to look forward to!(life without all the extra weight holding me back that is!) Look forward to getting to know you all!!

Hi Kelly, welcome! Keep reading here. The accurate accounts from each person will prepare you for what you're about to undergo. For most people it all goes pretty smoothly, but let the folks with complications prepare you that there may be bumps in the road. With this process, knowledge is power! Keep reading, and jump on in, the water's fine!
