Welcome to the forum. Sounds like you gave hell week a run for its money. As far as slim fast.. my nutritionist said its an absolute no no.... because they dont make one with low enough sugar to fit into HER plan. Everyone is different tho, and every surgeon has thier own rules. Good luck getting the protein in. Im hoping to tolerate the vials after surgery, because there is a high amount of protein in a small amount of liquid. Keep us posted!

Wow, I am so sorry you are having such a hard experience. No words of wisdom for you as I have not gone through it yet. However, I hope you are feeling better and stronger very soon!

Default Welcome!

There is a lo-carb, high protein Slim Fast- I think it tastes like goat dung! I much prefer the Atkins shakes- chocolate of course! I bought vanilla protein powder, the girl in the Vitamin Shoppe sweared by it- barely used one container. I say, try adding powdered milk to everything; it's especially good added to sf, ff cocoa. This lovely concoction counts as a liquid, but goes toward your protein count for the day as well. As martha would say, "It's a good thing"! Good luck!

The New-Whey tubes come in 20 and 42 grams of protein. The 20 grams are tastier and easier to get down. I used the unflavored protein powder from GNC and stirred it into broth. The vanilla/chocolate milk based protein drinks got to me real fast after surgery. Isopure protein drinks were/are good for further down the road when your intake is higher. The pre-made stuff tends to be expensive, but I think we are entitled right after surgery. As everyone else says...sip, sip, sip. I keep a log to make sure I get everything in, water, protein and vitamins! Good luck! You will be feeling better soon!

Later tonight I'm going to post an article in the nutrition section of this board, on those bullets of protein you mentioned and the ammino acid content that helps with absorbtion... I found it interesting because I was using those bullets and still not getting enough protein and didn't understand why... now I know.
