Default New around here...

I just found this forum a few days ago, and I've been looking for somewhere to discuss issues and new things. It seems like people are very friendly around here, so I'm glad I was approved to join...

I actually already had my Lap RNY on April 12th, and since then I have dropped 38lbs!!! Today is the first day that I wore a pair of capris..and actually had to hold my pants up when I was out because I didn't realize they had gotten so baggy. hahaha It was a good feeling.

I've been having some issues, though, like pain in my chest and gerd.. I went and had to have a gastrograffin swallow yesterday, and it turns out I have a stricture..so I'm going to the gastro doc on Monday. Has anyone else gone thru this? And how bad is the scope/dialation?

I appreciate any help!!

Hi there! Welcome. I haven't had the same issues as you, but what I understand from other people, the scope isn't as bad as the stricture. Glad you're getting it taken care of, you're going to feel soooooooo much better!

Default Getting scoped

It's really the same as having an EDG. You're out for it and basically don't remember it at all. My husband had it done twice and he notice great improvement almost immeadately!

Thanks for the welcome. It's nice to find a place where everyone knows what you're going thru...and have gone thru.

I don't know why, but it seems like if something's going to go wrong, it does with me. lol My husband calls me a walking health hazard.

I had a colonoscopy done in December, so I'm thinking I probably won't remember any of the scope like I didn't before going in the other end..hahaha But I guess I'm worried about my throat and such...if it will hurt afterwards??

I know right now I'm scared to eat or drink much of anything because of the pain and Gerd I've had on and off. The worst lasted over 2 hours...really bad pain...not fun. Oddly enough, 3 different times with 3 different foods, it's hit me the 3rd time I ate the same food. So variety it is for me!! At least for now..

i had a stricture at 7 weeks, had it dialated at 8 weeks, was not painful, i remember it, i was awake - i gagged alot, but i was fine - my throat was irritated that evening and the rest of the next day, but not painful, more like it felt as if i was getting a cold but was more of an irritation than a pain.

i had another scope a couple of weeks ago - wasnt awake for this, the drugs musta worked this time - same thing, not pain, an irritation.

it really is nothing and with the stricture, i stopped vomitting immediately and was able to consume liquids/soft foods shortly after it and then graduated to normal foods a few days later
