Jan, I am only 10is months out but as Marty mentioned, life goes on and on and on but as a healthy person it is easier to have the energy to "get er done". We still have the head issues that made us eat, but I am learning to just "feel the feelings" as one fellow stapler sugested...not easy, but a nessesary part of the process.
Now, the perks to being a normal size person are definately worth the process, bending over, clothes, clothes and did I mention clothes. Great sex, running and walking, forever. No fears about fitting in a chair or an airplane seat. Watching people you know try to figure out where they have seen you before, thats kinda cool......so many things.......I believe, even if life does go on...it is definately worth the effort!!!
Be brave.....God Bless
Lori

Happy?
Will you be happy? Honestly, this surgery does not fix you or cure you of anything. It is a tool. If you use it well, it will help you lose a bunch of weight and you may feel good about that. But if there is a part of you determined to be unhappy - this surgery will not make that part go away. There are plenty of miserable skinny people in the world.
It will be what you make of it. No garuntees - but there is great potential if you go for it. Are you ready to change your life? If you can answer yes, than all good things are possible.

I've always looked at this surgery as a form of "forced behavior modification"....lol
Seriously, everything said above is true.... I was more unhappy emotionally after I had surgery until I figured out that I was mourning food! My family's all foodies, everythign we do revolves around a meal. When all my sibs get together we are planning the next meal while we eat the current one! They all stayed thin and I just kept gettign bigger and bigger...sigh
Anyway, the bottom-line is that all the surgery will do for you is give you a chance to look at life from inside a thin person vs. a fat one... if your life is like mine it will look the same! My children and husband still love me and drive me crazy at the same time, my dog still pees on the carpet and I have to clean it and I still have a wicked sense of humor & mouth that still gets me in trouble sometimes.
I wish you a speedy and complication free recovery..... keep us posted

**In regards to "forced behavior modification"**........I'm glad you posted this. I could see something like this happening to me (seperation anxiety) And it's nice to know that now I'll be able to spot it for what it is.

Most of do
Welcome to the forum, and yes, most of us do mourn the loss of our best friend--food. We used it for so many things, especially the emotional, that it's a real blow at the beginning. As you get further on, you will have to deal with those emotions in healthier ways. Counseling can be key.

All is well
Hi All,
Got home last night and am now 1 week in - wow - feel quite good - no major problems and healing well. About to have 1st liquidised meal tonight - chicken, potato and carrot - cant wait as have only had soup and youghurt so far as I am sure you all know.
There were 9 of us there and swapped details with a couple so will be aded support to you lot who are fab.
Am still rather weak and I know is to be expected mainly as not eating much of course but would love to walk for more than 10 mins without feeling faint - is this usual - my poor dog is suffering bless him as parents who are retired have had him for last week and I think he wanted to stay - had good long walk every day and I cant wait till I can do that with him.
Thank you again all for your support
Janette

Congratulations on being home and to hear everything is going well for you.
I can't give you any advice on the fatigue/weakness since I haven't had my surgery yet.
Just wanted to welcome you back and congrats on being on the loosing side.

Welcome home...remember the mantra...sip, walk, rest, repeat...give in to the tiredness...your body is healing.
