I am new to this forum. I had gastric bypass on March 28, 2007. I live in Vista, CA. Wanting to snack seems to be my biggest problem. Anyone any good ideas?

Hello & Welcome! I am new to the forum also. I had surgery on Feb 6, 2007. I would say to snack on healty things like sugar free popsicles, sugar free frudgesicles, sugar free jello and pudding. And to get your protein you need to get the whey protein shakes from GNC or Atkins shakes. When in doubt see a nutrionist. They will guide you. Also eat very slow!

I just remebered that my doctor advised that I eat 6 small meals a day and drink in between. So if you like snacking sub some meals for snacks.

I have found I need to drink something to stop snacking. Or just keep healthy stuff around to snack on. And try to stay away from carbs as they give you the craving to snack more! Good luck. Just one day at a time.

Hey, Carolyn -
You and I share the same surgery date!!!
I've also found that drinking water helps the munchies. It's head hunger - I know I can't possibly be hungry when a sip of water fills me up.
Good Luck
Carol

I had a Gastric Bypass on March 26th,2007.....and I too live in Vista, Ca......I sometimes too want to snack, but when I do, I usually have some cheese.....or a Sugar Free Popsicle or Fudgesicle...that usually satisfies me....Good Luck on your journey....we are only 2 days apart.....Darlene

Welcome!
SF Popsicles rule! And they count towards your fluid intake. A protein shake can count towards fluid too. Also, as I have read many times here, if you think you're hungry, you're probably just thirsty, so drink!
