Hello/2 months post op
Hello all, Just want to introduce myself. I'm SherryJoy and I had my surgery Feb. 14 (Valentine's Day). I have lost 40 pounds so far and have about 135 or so left to lose. I am uncertain if that is enough (comparitively). I read about some folks losing really fast and others seem to struggle. I live in beautiful southern CA and take awesome nature walks or beach walks every day for at least 30 minutes, some a little longer. I have had to really experiment with food because eggs seem to make me vomit as do other foods on a "bad pouch day". I end up eating carbs (6 crackers with lowfat cheese) on bad pouch days becasue it seems like it goes down so much easier. Perhaps I should not be doing that?? I'd love to hear from any of you all about your experiences post op.
Thank you

Hi SherryJoy, welcome...at this point, you're still finding what 'works' for your pouch. Until recently, eggs were not my friend...but now, I can handle one of my hubby's light scrambled eggs. I used to love a good 3 egg omelet with everything from the kitchen thrown in. Can't do that anymore! Try to get your protein in. I know the carbs like crackers and chips are easier on your tummy, but they will sabotage you before you know it! I fell into a trap of eating crackers with cheese, because they went down easier than chicken or eggs...but before I knew it, I was snacking...and my loss stalled...back to protein, back to losing...you're still in your 'honeymoon' phase...so it's good to nip bad habits in the bud. What a great VALENTINES gift to yourself! You're on your way, welcome to the losers bench~

Sherry
I had my GBS on 2/12/07. I have struggled in many ways as well. I have found that No Fat Cottage cheese and marinara sauce soothes my pouch. I use 1/8 th cup of each for a meal. Be sure there in no sugar in the sauce. Then I zap it in the microwave.
Congratulations on your weight loss and be very careful of those CARBS
May God Bless You and Yours
