Default Newbie Here! HELP!!

Hello everyone. I am new to the forums. I recently had my surgery about 3 1/2 weeks ago. Everything went well! I am getting sick of the food you have to eat, Or can't eat for that matter. But I feel it is well worth it. I do need some food sugessions if you have any. I will be at my 4 week mark in a couple of days. What were you guys (or are you guys) eating? I'm having difficult coming up with stuff and I am sick of it all. Another thing I am having trouble with is getting my protein in. Protein replacements are making me sick (literally). I don't know what else to do about it. I can't eat enough to get it by food alone. Any advise on that would be helpful too.

Also, like I said it has been about 4 weeks since surgery. But I have only lost about 14-15 lbs. Is this normal? I have read where people have lost a lot more than that. I know everyone is different, but I just want to make sure I am doing everything right.

Default As I recall....

Creamed soups. fat-free refied beans, cottage cheese, oatmeal. It gets better at 6 weeks.

Welcome, you've come to the right place!! Refried beans, cream soups, etc...what Luna Said. Add dry milk to whatever you can for an extra kick of protein. Try unflavored Unjury in cream soups...that will help. If you can't do a full scoop, don't worry about it, try a 1/2 scoop. Getting ALL the protein in is near impossible the first 4 weeks, don't sweat it. Do what you CAN! Fluids are WAY more important at this point anyway. Be sure you are sipping ALL the time when you are awake. Fluid intake is vital! Don't worry, things level out, get better at 3 months or so. You'll be fine.

Thanks for all of your help. What is Unjury? I may have to look into that. I've never thought of putting it in soup. I've put it in yogart, but still couldn't get it. Yuck! Again, thanks for all your suggesions and continued support.

I lived on
cottage cheese
string cheese
ricotta with spaghetti sauce, parm and mozarella nucked in the micro for 30 sec....yummy. Started adding sauted ground chicken.

poached fish like tilapia and salmon were also good real food starters.

Default Welcome!

I agree with Dyann - ricotta and a teaspoon of sauce - refried beans and a sprinkle of cheese, nuked - I lived on that. I also started canned salmon pretty early out - it is really mushy (at least the brand I got was) and you can puree it too. Tuna can work too - just depend upon what you'll tolerate.

I had no trouble with Isopure protein mix (except for the price tag) but everyone is different. There is also a pudding by Sly Stallone that has a ton of protein in it - GNC has it - I won't say much about the taste...

As Zen said, you can't get all your protein in in the first month or so - fluids are #1 and don't worry about the weight loss for heaven's sake! 15 pounds in 3 weeks?? Would you have died for that a year ago?? You will lose the weight - don't worry! Just back away from the scale and no one gets freaked out!!

Thank you so much for the input. You gave me some options I hadn't thought of or tried. If anyone has any other ideas than please let me know. I'm sure it will help all of those out there that haven't had the surgery yet come up with stuff too.
