Talking Hello....

I am fairly new at the intranet thing....I had my gastric bypass surgery in1999. It was great, lost my goal of 127lbs!! I loved it...unfortunately, I moved to Kansas to be close to my daughter and grand children; got a divorce and had a nervous break down and gained 50#. I guess if I had to pick between a divorce and the weight gain I would probably go with the weight gain!! Well, since I had my surgery in San Diego, CA and I now live in Salina, Ks I have not ever attended any kind of support group, and I never feel 'good' and I don't seem to be able to drop my 50#. There are no doctors here in Salina that do gastric surgeries....well, I got my records to be transferred to Junction City....went to visit this new doctor (who must be at least 20 years old, cute as a button)...anyway I am now 'hooked' up with a nutritionist, a doctor who understands and a support group...I am go excited!!

Tomorrow, however, I am having surgery....seems that I have developed two hernias close to my pouch...so having them repaired and I hope will give me a boost to start from scratch with my food intake. I am so ready to feel good again and to wear my 'little' clothes again. I know that I can do it, I just need a 'boot in the rear' to keep motivated and excited. Thanks for listening...wish me luck. Carol

Hernia repair means a free TT! That may get you back on track. Regardlessof your situation, you do have control over yourself and how you react and deal with thins. Many of us have moved, lost jobs, friends, family, got divorced, switched addictions, all the things that goes on with just living. Having sugery doens't make us any better equipped to deal with the stresses of life. The surgery gives us a tool to deal with the physical part...but there's a whole lot more involved than just lsoing weight. Find some joy in life, regardless of your circumstances.

Hi Carol~
You've made a great start at accountability by coming here, and joining a local support group! Best of luck to you...we're here to lift you when you need a little boost!

I commend you for being aware, taking accountability and jumping in to change things! The support here is awesome. This is the most wonderful group of people you will encounter. I am about 1 1/2 years out and I struggle a lot to maintain my weight and my good health habits. I so appreciate the honesty of others battling it. I think you have already made the important strides for getting back on track. Welcome to the board......and like Marie said.....get out there and start enjoying your life. You've still come a long way!!

Carol, Congratulations on recognizing what you needed to do, and putting things in motion to get it done.

I can tell you from experience that this group will tell it to you exactly like it is. They will be here to support you, help you and even kick your butt if you need it. The support group in my area is not for me, but this forum gives me all the support and help I could ever dream of having. You will not find a better group of people anywhere.
