Job interview this weekend! I *hate* them!
I'm going for a job interview this weekend.. I'm very lucky the guy is willing to meet me on the weekend, but I'm nervous as heck!
I haven't bought any new work clothes and I'm curious what I should do.. since we're meeting on the weekend, instead of the regular workday, should I still dress the same as I would for any other interview? My thought is yes, but a friend of mine said no, I should go a slightly more casual. (The job would be working in a school system)
I just really suck, suck, suck at interviews.. UGH.

That was my feeling as well, Deb..
And yes, this is in VT.. I'm excited and nervous, etc... I really don't want to move there without a job in place.. but with the wedding coming so soon, it'd be nice to get there and be settled in a good position already.
I really do like where I am now for the most part, but it is very slow right now.. we're a manufacturing plant and a lot of our work gets sent overseas these days Work is slow and quite frankly, not very challenging or interesting anymore.
I like the people a LOT though.. mixed feelings there.

Kel,
I definitely think you should 'dress for success' for your interview. Even if he is super casual because of the weekend, you want to look nice and professional.
Good luck!

You need to dress one step above what you'd normally wear to the job you're interviewing for, no matter what.
So yeah.. nice slacks and blouse or a business suit is in order. Good luck hon!

Dress professional!!!!!
My opinion - always dress professional - that's what leaves an impact on the interviewer.
I upped my ante when it came to interviews a month back (when it came to my clothing) and I finally have people calling me. I went from casual, to professional. And besides, dressing professional (even if you're going for a plumbing job) makes you feel great and in control.
Good luck on the interview - keep us posted.

so sorry to have left you all hanging like that..
The interview didn't happen He emailed saying he had to go through the hiring committee and wasn't going to be able to meet with me over the weekend, after all, but that I would be called to schedule one after the committee has decided whether my information passes muster .. Hopes were really up for this, it appears, on paper anyway, to be a perfect match for my skills.
I really don't want to move to VT without a job but the wedding date is looming.. given the economy, it isn't a given that I'll have something by then

I've been looming also over a job
I've had 4 interviews at a local college as a student advisor - a perfect match for me with my education etc..etc.
I've trickled down through 3 other staff (bosses) that liked me, to end up having an interview with the Dean of the school. He liked me, and told me that I'll be back for my second interview with him, the President, and another advisor. (This was sounding great!)
He told me to give him a call (The Dean) last week Wednesday which I did, and behold...he was at home having a days vacation. Gggrrr! He then told me to call him Friday at 10 a.m. which I did, only to talk to his secretary and she told me that the school will be sending out letters this coming week.
SO... I'm so confused. Am I one of those - "We like you so much, but won't hire you deals?" I feel like calling the Dean to be reassured, but I feel like I'd be harassing him. What do I do????
Am I in, or not?????
