Question BCBS Question

Does anyone know if BCBS still requires a 6 month diet? I had heard this changed. Does anyone know?

SOME BCBS plans has changed to a 3 month diet instead of a 6 month. It's not for the entire insurance provider though. You gotta call your insurance and see if the certain insurance thing you're under covers it. I called and they said that it did NOT change for me...it didn't make much of a difference anyway, since I was already in the 5th month.

God I hope that made sense...lol

Congrats on being approved! So, I'm only at SQUARE ONE right now!!! I've made the decision I want to do this. I've called the surgeon's office and I'm being sent information. Once I receive the information, I have to attend a meeting and then I can schedule an appointment to meet with the surgeon. Any advice on what I can expect at the first meeting or the first visit with the surgeon?

I didn't get to meet the surgeon until I was in my 5th month. And when I did, he explained the risks and complications that could happen, and went through the surgery..how it's performed (RNY which is what I'm having), the hospital stay, post op care and then answered any questions I had...

Really, the 6 months go by SO fast...don't sweat it!

Capital Blue Cross and Blue Shield required a 3 month Doctor supervised diet. I thought it was going to take forever...but, it went really fast. Good Luck!

No six month requirement for me either.

It isn't just the insurance company that gets to decide whether there is a requirement or not.. but the purchaser of the insurance (usually your employer) can have riders and whatnot that require some specific hoop jumping as well, so you can't go by just the insurer.
