Cool Newbie that needs support!

Hey Everyone,

First off I would like to CONGRATULATE all of u on your wonderful accomplisments...I've been stalking most of u for months! I decided to get this surgery because I was afraid that I would have no life. I'm 19, full time college student and full time employee, and i pre-occupy myself with work and schook to try an escape the reality of being overweight...BUT DAMMIT....its time to LIVE, and I am ready! I already completed all my requirements for Aetna, submitted, and I am awaiting word from them at this time...Aetna better approve me...cause aint no way I'm gonna settle for a " Your surgery has been DENIED" Hopefully I will have some good news to share soon, and a couple months even some pic!

Hi and Welcome to TT

I don't know much about the insurance process you go through other than what i've read on here, because I live in the UK and we have a different system. However, I would say at this time try to stay positive about the outcome - and should you find that you're denied, like a lot of others here appeal their decision. I'm sure other members will be able to advise on this. Right now though it really is a little premature.

Good Luck.

Hello and welcome to TT. My insurance is Aetna and I was approved with in a week of submitting my paperwork. I wish you all the best on your journey and may the Aetna representative that gets your paperwork grant you your wish! (My Dr. said the approval process depends alot on the rep. that gets your file!)

I wish you luck on a first-time acceptance. Aetna is my secondary insurance, and they don't cover the sleeve -- I got a denial letter for it, which I knew was going to happen -- but they did cover part of my surgeon's fees and anesthesia fees anyway. (I have BC/BS which covered me.)

My insurance claim was submitted to and accepted by BCBS within a week. I really think that it shouldn't take very long to hear back, but sometimes you get those reps at the insurance who dawdle.

Maintaining within a few pounds up and down. 130 is my goal and I've been hovering a pound or two over it for months now.

Welcome to TT. So glad you decided to come out of lurkdom and post! The waiting process can feel like it takes forever! I don't have Aetna, so I can't help you there. My insurance approved me within 2 weeks but my surgeon was the one who put on the breaks for 6 months after seeing my lab work.

While you are waiting the best thing you can do for yourself is to do your research! Keep reading and asking questions of all of us. I firmly believe the more educated you are before going into surgery the more prepared you will be for the inevitable bumps, hills and gullies you will experience on this journey. It isn't an easy road. You are given a tool but you have to know how to use that tool and use it correctly for life!
