Default VSG Insurance and Doctor

My head is swimming - I was told today that my insurance will cover the VSG and now I am looking for a doctor close to home that performs the procedure. Any tips for BCBSNC insurance in and around Wilmington/Myrtle Beach? It's looking like I might have to go to Charlotte, which is 200 miles away and not so good for after care.

I haven't found much for you except for in Charlotte, but I was just poking around some sites and I found this one a little bit closer -- but pretty much Charlotte Carolina Weight Loss Surgery :: Home; they have at least 2 surgeons that do VSG that I saw. Check it out! I just kept google-ing it different ways. I didn't find one any closer in SC either But hopefully you can find someone!

That was so nice of you to look for me! All I can find is Charlotte, too. I was hoping for Myrtle Beach or at least Raleigh. I've asked my (Wilmington) surgeon's office for a recommendation; hopefully they will know of someone a little closer. I don't mind Charlotte, but that makes all the pre-op stuff and after-care more difficult.

I had to travel about 180 miles for my surgery. It's inconvenient. but it's certainly doable if it's necessary. You might try asking on the VSG forum on Obesity Help if anyone there knows a surgeon near you.

Personally, I would be A LOT more concerned with how many VSG's the surgeon has performed, and their success and complication stats than how far away they are. Honestly, for VSG there really is NOT a lot of aftercare/labs/office visits required. It's more beneficial to you to know that your surgeon has performed a lot of procedures successfully. Good luck though!
