Talking New Insurance startes today!

Today started the newsest insurance period at work. I had changed mine from a HAP HMO to a High Mark Blue Shield PPO. The difference is the HMO requires a 12 month diet and the PPO requires a 6 month diet. Since we didn't get out insurance cards in yet I called the company and they were able to give me my policy number incase I have to go to the doctor. I also needed the qualifications from them and they will be sending them to me withing the next few days. I was really nervous about being able to count my last 3 dieticion visits towards my new insurances policy but they said a dieticion would be exceptable even if some of if was with a previouse insurance. So my last visit would be at the end of September and I am hoping to have surgery in November because it's what would be best for school and work.

I have to work really hard as soon as I get the info from the insurance and start looking for a hospital and get in for a consalt so I can start all my evals. I only have 3 months so I hope that's enough time to make it all happen.

Wish me luck!

Nothing could ruin this day for me...NOTHING! =)

Good Luck Sam! You've very determined and I know you'll be able to get everything taken care of in time for your surgery date

Congratulations on the new insurance! Hope things move quickly for you now! That's good that at least you already got some of the 6 months out of the way

I really hope this goes smoothly. I want this so bad I can taste it! I got my insurance criteria and I have a few questions for them on Monday morning. I want to make sure I understand everything fully before I get farther into this and find out it was all for nothing.

I had Highmark BC for my surgery. Also, keep in mind that any treatment that you have gotten previously has nothing to do with who paid for it. It's the actual treatment and documentation from your provider that matters. Those 3 visits for your diet will count. Good luck with your journey! sue

I asked about the treatment thing. It looks like this insurance wont pay for the dietician so I'm going to finish up with my PCP who started this before I was told I needed to see a dietician with HAP. I haven't spoken with my doctor about finishing this with him yet but he was willing to start it so I'm sure he'll be willing to finish. Which gets me thinking about the 2 or so visits I had with my doctor before I started with this dietician. I wonder if that will go toward it? Definitely worth looking into.
