Question Does ayone on here have my insurance??

Hey guys, I have looked at a bunch of old insurance posts, and tried searching as well, but I can't seem to find anyone on here who has the same insurance as me.

I have Group Health Value.

I know they cover the surgery, but I don't know what the requirements are. I called them and they told me that they are not allowed to discuss this procedure over the phone, that they have to mail me the info. That was about 4 days ago. I have seen my PCP, and my first meeting with the nutritionist is today.

My other worry is the co-morbidity issues. I am currently at 318 (BMI of 48). The thing is that I have slightly elevated cholesterol and triglycerides, but I am currently not on any meds for this (due to changing PCP's). I also am about 90% sure I have sleep apnea, but have not been tested. I have PCOS which causes insulin resistance, but am not a full diabetic yet. I have lots of other issues such as joint pain, incontinance, depression... etc.

Anyway, more than anything I am wondering about the insurance thing.

Thanks guys!

Yeah, I looked on the website and all it says is that they cover it, and to get more info talk with your "health care professional."

Not very helpful

Most insurances will cover WLS if your BMI is above 40, whether or not you have comorbidities. I don't know about your particular insurance, though. If they are sending you the info, you should know soon, though, right?

I think you should be covered. the standard is bmi over 40.....that is usually it.

Best of luck to you!

If the surgery is not excluded on your plan by your employer, then it sounds like you should be fine.. your BMI is significantly higher than the standard requirement of 35 with co-morbidities or 40 without so you should be fine.
