Question Does anyone have Blue Shield PPO?

I have a Blue Shield PPO..plan 3000 to be more exact and I was wondering if anyone else had the same insurance or a similar Blue Shield PPO plan? If so, I would love to hear if you are forced to do a diet program. Also, I am having my consult on June 18th....in the meantime, should I be seeing someone for the psych eval and the nutritionist? And are those people recommended by the doctor or could they be anyone? HELP!

I don't have Blue Shield, so I don't know for sure, but you will probably have to do a six month diet. Almost all insurance plans seem to require them. You can call your insurance carrier to find out, or your surgeon's office might be able to tell you,

As far as the nutritionist consult and the psych eval, your surgeon might have people he or she works with or recommends, or you might need to arrange those on your own. My surgeon has a dietician who works in his office, so I see her. I was responsible for arranging for the psych eval on my own, though. Call your surgeon's office and ask.

I have bc/bs ppo.....First call blue shield and ask them for the policy number for wls I did that and when I read it I was surprised...This was the requirements for my plan 40 bmi or 35 bmi with 2 or more co-morbids...I have type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure I was not required to do any type of 6 month diet. But just call and ask for the policy number. When you go to their site in the search area you put in the policy number and it will come up...I can't remember the policy number so give them a call and they will tell you what it is...Good Luck!!!
I needed to add one thing if there is a weight loss clinic in your area I would check that out because the clinic I got to has everyone in the same office and upper gi and the rest of the test are set up be the clinic all I had to do was show up to the tests. We have monthly meetings, walking club monthly outings etc it's great!!!!

I have bc/bs PPO and had a BMI over 40 with high blood pressure. I did not have to submit a documented 6 months diet

I have blue shield PPO and I didn't have to do the 6 month diet. You can go to the website and it tell you a little about what's required. My doctor's office scheduled the nutritionist and gave me a list of psych's but I decided to go with one that blue shield has on thier list. It was a pretty simple process. I would check to see if the surgeon has a informational you can go to early. Also I got my response really quick.
I have blueshield of CA. Is that the same one you have?
Good Luck. Any questions let me know.
