Hi all,

I am currently in the process of jumping through all the hoops AETNA requires for gastric bypass. AETNA is my primary insurance but I also have Tricare Standard as my secondary. I'm wondering if for some reason AETNA denies me, will Tricare go ahead and pay anyway? I meet all the criteria for Tricare.

umm.. there is someone from VA that had tricare as secondary, but i think the primary paid it all. I think you'd have to file with both for pre approval. I say that cuz tricare standard does require preapproval for this surgery. I had it, and paid only 76 bucks from start to finish for the surgery! whoo hooo! But I would talk to your clinic that is arranging the insurance approvals and ask them. I would also visit your tricare office or call them to find out on their end. Good luck!
