Kaiser, sounds like they try to cancel you for any reason, they can think of. Good luck on your journey. I went through a lot of what I would call BS stuff, but it all has to be done, I guess. Oh well I am near the time for my Baritric Bypass. I have BC/BC and Medicare, all of the Baritric Process is covered.

Hey, so I finally started my classes this past Tuesday. It went pretty well, they made us fill out all these forms that say scary warnings about the surgery we had to weigh ourselves and then they went around the room and everyone introduced themselves and states why they want the surgery. The class was much larger than I expected probably about fifty people. I am so excited to finally be going. You will be next

It's also a mandate of the surgeons' I believe.

I think all of the recent posters are in southern CA Lynette, completely different program down here
Hey Mburgs,

Now I understand what you mean when you say you felt frustrated by the questions some people ask. Some people were asking questions that I just felt like they should know - I mean not to be critical but how can you even consider doing such a life changing surgery and not be reading and researching it. Overall, I really enjoyed my first class and I feel so relieved to finally be starting this six month stuff. So how is it going with you? What class are you on? Well I hope all is going well

hi
i go to kaiser harbor city.
my classes started 12-4-08
i graduated 5-28-09
i got the call from bariatric surgery 8-21-09 and
my first appointment with the surgeon is 10-12-09.

harbor city was taking surgery patients from other kaisers and got behind with the patients at harbor city.

i did not miss a class. if you do miss a class you have to make it up before you can graduate. every class has it's own dynamic. i was in a good class.

they tell you that you have to loose 10% to have the surgery. i did not loose the 10% but did meet a smaller percent to graduate. you must graduate in order for them to send your paperwork to the surgeon.

the last 13 weeks i have tried to maintain the loss. since i have received the call i am a bit more motivated to loose the rest of the 10% and more.

if anyone has any questions for me, ask away!

i think the program is excellent.

Cool, thanks for the info. So I read on the surgeon's website that I have to have a psych eval, go to a seminar, and a support group. I was thinking of attending the seminar and support group in December since I will be done in January and I wanted to scheduled the psych now - what do you think? Is it too soon to schedule the psych? Should I do the seminars sooner? I am just really hoping to gets things done and hopefully if everything goes well to have my surgery by March. Thanks again for all the information.

Default Hi from Kaiser guy SSF

Hi everyone. I just joined last week. I got my referral from my pcp in May, did orientation 7/28 and started my classes today. I am doing a 7 class pilot program. I started at 392 at orientation and weighed in at 356 today. Dunno how, but I only need a few pounds to make the 10% loss goal.

You lost 36 pounds just since 7/28? That's great, but how did you do it?

Not sure if it all water weight or what or kaiser scale is weird. I followed the pro op meal plan closely and am walking brisk pace 2 miles a day plus normal day to day activities. 10 of the pounds were in the last 2 weeks. I hope I can keep this pace. keeping my fingers crossed and trying to ignore being hunry all the time. Seems like everything is moving fast since referral, I met with physc, did all my labs etc and am dropping weight fast. I have been eating 900 calories a day super low fat.
