It amazes me how many of us all come to this same conclusion (wink). I'm thankful too.

What i put in my mouth is a daily struggle and I am not very good. But - i at least try to identify what makes me be "bad", what fails even when i am trying to be good (low fat but too many carbs?) and what works and what doesn't. it has at least stopped my weight gain for now.
my doc won't let you have the surgery if you gain more than ten lbs - if so, you have to loose it and then they will do the surgery. its to make sure you are serious is my impression.

I doubt thats the case with her or her Doctor would have said somthing like yours did to you. More then not it just dosnt matter. We all have issue as to why we eat to much or we wouldnt be here. lol.

Hello ladies,
Glad to hear Sparkles' surgery went well. I haven't been on here in a few days as I have been spending my freetime reading the Leach book "Before and after" The funny thing is after college I kind of hated reading only read stuff when I had to for work, etc. before I would read for leisure, but now I can't get enough - I read the Dummies book in a day and now I can't put this book down and now I have another book to buy the Workbook...LOL Well, anyways the Leach book is really good I think it is written with mostly a women audience in mind - it is a journal of her experiences pre and post op followed by a section of questions and answers and a section of various receipes for each stage of eating. My favorite quote form the book is "nothing tastes as good as thin feels"
Good to hear you got your vitamins Tess, I am still waiting for mine - I am anxious to see what they send me. I was looking at pill dispensers online a few nights ago - walmart has a few good choices. Do you think we need a four time a day one or just twice a day? It seems like everything I read says something a little different. Right now I am still just taking what I have always taken 1 multivitamin (centrum or Prenatnal) I kind of switch off and Vitamin D. What are you guys taking?
Sorry, I know this is long but I also wanted to tell you I was looking at blenders as I thought of buying a magic bullet but I kind of want something small that has the measurements on it. Any suggestions? I will let you know if I find anything good.

I agree Tess, the seminar was informative and I have much of the information in the book on here and on other sights, but I like having it all in one place and it did go into alot of post op stuff that I was curious about like dealing with coworkers and relationships. I think it is definately worth the price. Unrelated - I read a post in a different thread about telling co-workers I am still not sure about this one - what are your guys thoughts?

Jeweled,
I told my supervisor and boss and at least a couple of my co-workers overheard. We're a small office, more like a family than a workplace. I was pleasantly surprised by my boss's support, he informed me that a lot of people in our company (which is based in MN-we're just a small satellite office) have had the procedure and had great results. My supervisor has a friend who had the lap band procedure about a year ago and is super supportive. Actually when I started a bit over two years ago there was a gentleman working there who had had GBS and everyone was very accepting and supportive of him.
The acceptance is amazing and will be helpful post-op when I opt out of the sweet foods we often have in the office. We're all food lovers and have lots of food days, swap recipes, etc. One of our co-workers is a vegetarian so extra steps are taken on food days to include her. I'm confident that knowing my dietary changes post-op will help my co-workers understand that I'm not being rude in not eating that delicious cake they baked.
I can only speak for myself but I think telling my co-workers is a good thing. I'm going to be out of the office for a while, they're going to know I'm having surgery and they'll want to know why when I get back if I don't tell them. I'd rather not lie to them. It's going to be obvious that I'm losing weight at a greater than "normal" rate, I'd rather they not think I'm sick.

Reading all this talk about the workbook has me curious, I may have to see if I can find a copy locally. I know I have a lot of unlearning and re-learning to do. I still think fat after four months of the supervised diet.
I've been taking a generic Centrum-like multi-vitamin for the last several years and am now anxiously awaiting my Celebrate samples. *thank you to the person that shared how to request samples!*
After reading about some misadventures with the Magic Bullet-leaking after lots of use-poor customer support, I decided an emulsion blender will be best for me. That's the hand held wand blender. I plan on using a measuring cup to mix everything in.
