Hey Everyone,
Hope you week was fantastic. I am really excited about the whole thing; I have a surgery appointment on 05/28/2009. The reason for the move back was I want to be in a “safe zone” have a date that is far enough after the 30 days that my packet was submitted to insurance. And if for some crazy freaking reason the pre-determination doesn’t come back good then I have enough time (2 weeks) to cancel and push back my surgery date without penalty.

Nice job. You are so brave for doing this now. I need to be that motivated and not keep waiting for PostOp and I need to start working out. You are really helping me get inspired. I am even gym shopping right now.

Why can't people just keep the negative comments to themselves? Thanks for letting me vent.

Glad you are venting. And believe me I have a boss that is putting me through the whole. Your asking for an "elective" surgery. Yah right. My insurance or surgeon wouldn't do an elective surgery. It's medically necessary. Thank you very much!

I'm all for positive feedback and even heartfelt suggestions, but do NOT look down on me for my choices!!

Awesome! Kudos on the weight loss. 3-4lbs Is an awesome job. I totally agree that I am doing this not for approval or rejections from other people. I simply am not shy about telling you why I am leaving work for 3-4 weeks or that I will need to change how often I leave for lunch. Good job on not listening to that crud.

Hi Sparkles!
As for venting.....There is a gal in the office complex who I chat with regularly. She is a very sweet lady but she is really giving it to me about the surgery. i opened my big mouth last month at lunch with her and ever since then she is always telling me "all you need to do is not eat breakfast, have salads for lunch and eat very small for dinner". Don't have the surgery, it's so bad for you". If I miss a day she is running out the door saying she was so scared I had it. Give me a break! If I could lose the weight on my own I wouldn't elect to go under the knife..........Oh, by the way, she's like a size 4!

You need to tell people like this "Although I value your opinion and I have heard it. Make no misstake, My decision has been made!! You can either be a freind, wish me the best and support me, or get the heck out of my way" tell her you only want from this point...to hear positive things about your decision or to just hush.
I make this quite plan to everyone who wants to add their unsolicited two cents. Be polite but firm and most of all be strong!
BY the way, I bought my magic bullet today from The mart. Don't no why I thought it was 20 bucks. that sucker was 69.00 OH well I'm sure I will get plenty of use out of it

Walk away from those nay-sayers! You don't need any negatives on this road. Like others said...be firm in your conviction.
Just another update...APPROVED! ...in about 48 hours from BCBS (all the ins. co.'s have like a month or so to approve, but ask the ins. person at your surgeon's office...mine said that my ins. always approves within 72 hrs, they deal with them daily so they know how long it really takes.). I have Highmark PPO Blue (BCBS Western PA).
Hang in their gals...things do really start moving fast at the end...start making lists of things to buy, pack for the hospital, etc. I wish I'd shopped already! 19 days until LB!

I had them to when I had my surgery. I thought they were the best. Congratulations now comes the fun part LOL.
As for the negetive Betty's out there. Let it go in one ear and out of the other. I have had ALL kinds coming at me. From the people who say they know someone who knew someone who had it and has had issues to the person who's sister had it and gained most of the weight back. I am very open with my choice I have never once pretended like I did not have surgery to loose weight (not that if you choose not to tellis wrong) but it got real old when people acted like I cheated by having the surgery or would ask stupid things like how are you going to keep it off? Sometimes my answer was "by eating a whole cake a day" Duh what do you think dumb ass. anyway ive learned the best sock in the mouth is by having it done loosing the weight and keeping it off. Now people are going on their own "plans" to keep up with me. Ive been crowned as the person who started the health craze at work. I know its hard but ignore the ignorance focus on you and where you will end up and thank your blessings that this opportunity is going to become a reality.

I can totally relate to the people that have negative remarks about your decision to have WLS surgery. I told a few people that I work with, and I was amazed when one of my closest friends at work was negative about my decision to get WLS. I was excited when I told her and she said " You don't need to have surgery you can lose weight if you push back from the table and get off your butt and exercise". She continued talking and then she said you are just trying to take the easy way out.
I had stood there in shock, and then I said easy way...EASY WAY..by no means is WLS an easy way out. I wanted to explain to her, but I was so mad and felt it would be a waste of time.
We still talk some, but we are not as close as we were. She ask me last week if I was still getting the surgery, and I said yes. She said if you get that done you will be smaller than me, and I am not going to like that...I like being the smaller one.
I looked at her and said that is really shallow thinking, true enough my size is going to change, but also my blood pressure will be in control. I am doing this for my health. My dad died from a heart attack at the age of 41 and I am in worse health than he was at the time of his death. I want to be here to see my grandchildren grow up. I want to get this done and live a healthy long life. I said I AM getting this surgery done, and I am going to surround myself with friends that can support my decision and be happy for me. I walked away from her and didn't give her a chance to respond.

I have surrounded myself around POSITIVE folks that are all supported and that's ALL of you. I have chosen to tell a couple of people and that's it because I was afraid of the negative. I can relate to what Star Jones was saying on the Oprah Winfrey Show on Wednesday. This is a decision for YOU and not anyone else. People does not know how it feels to not be able to walk stairs, or tie your shoes and go into restaurants and not be stared at. I am more than qualified to move up in my company but guess what, no one has given me the opportunity. I AM JUST PLAIN TIRED of being and feeling this way. So here's my logo for 2009.
"NOTHING TASTE AS GOOD AS SKINNY FEELS!!!"
