So how are things going on your 6 month diet everyone? I am so ready for it to be August and I am on my last pcp visit! Anyone else? What are you doing for your diet?

I don't start mine until after I see the surgeon this Friday. I'm worried about it. Not the diet itself. I think its crazy. So, what happens if I take off to much weight? Six months in a long time. Then I'll be below my BMI. Then what? I'll have to eat again and put it back on? Thats crazy. The reason I'm having the surgery is because of my yo yo dieting all my life not being healthy. I was told on one forum they go by your start weight. Then at the Informational seminar when the questions was asked. the nurses answer was " Our patients don't take off a whole lot of weight". Im excited thats all I gotta do is the 6 months and get my PCP's clearance but I don't understand this diet thing at all... I'm waiting to talk to my Nutritionist to see whats going on and what i need to do. She will be the one monitoring me

Yeah I don’t get the 6 month diet. Because in the next sentence it says to prove unsuccessful weight loss. Yikes so if I am a good loser then I am bad for WLS. Yikes, my Surgeon’s office said regardless I do have to loose some to shrink my liver and so I am a great candidate for the Lap RNY. I really don’t want an open I’m really scared of that. But whatever I am approved for Lap or Open I am taking!

Yep. my surgeon wants me to lose 30lbs before surgery. So I am thinking about 5lbs a month which should not be so bad. I go next Friday for my 1 month diet check in. I have printed out exactly what the nurse needs to write on the paperwork. I want to make sure I take all tips. So, by me looking at this thread so far there are me, Tess and Sparkles starting the 6 month diet. Anyone else out there we would be glad to have you.We all have to stick together since we will be having our surgery around the same time.

Hmmm good idea. What tips did you print out and from where. I want some helpful hints for that nice little nurse to write down in my file so my PCP visits aren’t a waste! Start Sharing!

You might wanna call at least 1/week to see if anyone has dropped out. That’s what I did for my consultation and I saved myself 3 weeks of waiting!

I have it marked on my calender~ The class now is booked but the next one starts in march. I was told to call then to see if anyone had dropped. I am crossing my fingers but not getting my hopes too high. They are only 10 week courses.

Knowing me I would show up that first day anyway lol and be like “OoOo I thought I was on the list….Yikes and give them a ˝ smile ˝ sad look” and start praying they will just squeeze me in. lol

Hi all! I started my six month diet last month and I go see the NUT tomorrow for my first follow-up. They call it the "bubble" diet, you get a sheet with a certain number of "bubbles" to fill in for each category and these "bubbles" add up to a certain caloric intake. Mine is 1300. Some days are easy, other days aren't. Today was a rough day, my stomach was growling and I felt ill because I felt so hungry.

I'm supposed to be quitting soda but I'm putting it off one last week. I'm supposed to be exercising too but I've been sick off and on so it's been hard to feel like exercising much less doing it.

I'm using this time to learn my new eating habits for after surgery, no drinking 30 min before, during, or 30-45 min after meals. This is a lot easier than I thought it would be now that I'm a month into it. It was kind of funny, one night my husband brought me a soda to have with my meal and I looked at him like he'd lost his mind and said "I can't have that." It had slipped his mind that I didn't drink with meals anymore.

I'm concerned, as someone else mentioned, about losing too much weight and not qualifying with my insurance. I'm trying to be careful about how much I lose. So far I think I've lost around four or five pounds. I'll find out tomorrow for sure.

Joy
