OK I woke up a little late and some major things took place. Sabrenia I knew it would happen for you. I am so excited for you. I told you I would be keeping your seat warm, can't wait for you to get over to the other side.

I am so irritated right now. I have less than 24 hours before my surgery. I get a phone call from a lady at the dr office to tell me how much I have to pay for the surgery. I told her I have insurance and she tells me that I am down as a cash patient.

I tell her no I have insurance. Then she says we never submitted to the insurance comapny. I inform her they did because I have my approval letter from the insurance company. She wants me to fax it. Are you kidding

Then I get a phone call from the hospital telling me how much I owe. A little over $400. She also tells me that if I can't pay tomorrow then I can't have surgery.

Thanks for giving me less than a days notice. Stupid then says can u pay it? I have no choice. I have already taken off work, did everything I need to do on my end. Can't the get it together.

OH NO, this is not happening. It smells like some incompentent people are entering in the house. Let me know if you need me to make some calls for you Dena, because this is unacceptable. Ask to speak with the office manager so they can get this all straight!!!!! PLEASE KEEP US INFORMED!!!!!!!!

That's pretty ridiculous, I can see MAYBE if you submitted it to insurance and they didn't have the letter, but they were advocating it for you? (Maybe that explains some things?!) Oh well, at least it's going to happen for you tomorrow.

Also pretty bad they didn't give you a payment schedule ahead of time either, sad that when you're prepping for your own surgery you also have to be doing other people's jobs too

Dena, that totally SUCKS. how did they get so many things so screwed up? DUH. On the plus side, your share is only $400 ---how much would it have been if you were a cash payer? I am guessing that my share will be about $4000 (which is my Max-Out-Of-Pocket.)

I am only waiting on my psychologist to send a report or whatever saying that i have continued with therapy and will be fine to have this surgery...assuming, of course that that is what they really think?? This was requested over a week ago, and after days of playing phone tag--i have gotten NO WHERE. As a last resort, I have an appt on wed, and i WILL NOT WALK OUT of her office without my letter!!!!

Also, since my 2007 weights are jacked up---i refused to get weighed at one appointment....the next appointment I was ONLY 219 because i must have been dieting, and my next appointment they left the weight blank.....my surgeons office suggested i attempt to get my 2006 records to see if I weighed more then....and use those weights to "back up" my history. SO, i am patiently waiting for the PCP to get their heads out of their bums and fax those to the surgeons office...hoever they act like I am asking them to send Obama's personal info in because they sure dont seem to want to do it, for whatever reason. I have been waiting a week for them to do this....and NOW my chart is "LOST" and they were supposed to find it and take care of it. I stopped in the office on my way home from work and i got the excuse "well, it is monday--we are really busy." UHHHH HELLO, so AM I.....dammit.

Why dont they average your BMI over two years instead of it having to BE 40 for two years? If it was an average, i would be AOK. Grrrr.

Oh, and i did find out I am NOT diabetic--but pre-diabetic, whatever that means. AND I do NOT have sleep apnea. So, my BMI really cant be under 40.

Anyhoo, congrats to you all who have been recently approved and who are moving ahead.

Now see I got lots of energy TODAY and I am ready to make some phone calls. Because these doctor offices are barking up the wrong tree today!!!!Now this is just plain crazy. I know the doctors office is busy but GOOD grief you are the customer. I would make sure that you get all you need on Wednesday or escalate it to the office manager. Let me know if you need me to make some phone calls for you. I am in a RARE mood today!!!!

Thanks for all of the support guys. I faxed my copy of the approval to them and called to make sure they recieved it. They did and said that was all they were missing and it's a all go for tomorrow. Sabrenia, thanks for being my advocate. I tried to calm down before I spoke to them again and it went pretty smooth.
My total out of pocket was around $2000. Not bad. I won't complain. I jujst wish they would have given me more notice so I could have saved up instead of using a credit card.
