The insurance company also recommended that I get the lap RNY since my BMI is greater than 50. My patient advocate/surgeon said that's not an absolute because you have to look at the individual and not just a number.

It dont matter. Im having the RNY Bypass and Im only have it once.

Medical Mutual of Ohio
Hey everyone! I was wondering if anyone on here has medical mutual of Ohio and if they have had any problems getting approved. I also wondered if anyone had any tips for me on the 6 month diet. I have been at it almost 3 months now and have only lost 4 pounds. My nutritionist has me on a moderate protein diet, getting approx 60g of protein a day. I am not slipping and yet still not really losing. It is very discouraging. I know when I go back this month for my 3 month follow up she is going to give me the evil eye.
Back to the insurance tho, I am very concerned that I will not get approved. Mainly because I initially went to the seminar august of 2008. However, at that time I felt like maybe I hadn't tried everything on my own, and waited until this year to come back. When I had come back, I had gained 40 pounds from my seminar weight. So, they are thinking that I may have a hard time getting approved. Anyone have any ideas.......?

Welcome to the thread and to the forum! Diet wise are you taking measurments and drinking enough water?
For me to lose weight I realy have to be hitting the gym hard, you may just need to mix it up a bit to shock your body out of a rut. I really have to start making the 'best' choice because I've been making 'better' decisions but they still aren't good enough and those calories here or there really affect my weigh loss.
I've been unable to go to the gym for about a week and after weighing myself I've decided to start taking short walks because I need activity to really set me over.

I drink water all day long and completely eliminated the pop. During the week there is ZERO snacking, but the weekends are the hardest as my hubby works during that time and I get bored. But, I do pretty good and eat the same things I would have during the week, like salads and fruit, etc. The one thing I am not really doing enough of is exercise. Honestly, I am SO tired. I just feel zonked all the time. I have been swimming some, and rode bikes the other day as well as walked some. But it has been really inconsistant. I do want to work out, but can't really afford to go to the gym. During the week I feel like I get a work out while I am at work, mainly b/c I am on my feet all day and running around like a chicken with its head cut off. Enough to work up a sweat. One day I even turned on the exercise channel on time warner and started moving to that. I gotta tell ya, after 5 minutes I thought i was going to pass out. My kids thought it was amusing tho. I try to do what I can when I can, but really my energy level is zero. My b-12 is good, so thats not the issue. Not sure whats up.

You may just be tired because your body's working hard to use the stored calories? Any kind of activity is really great, swimming is probably one of the best things to start with because it doesn't work your joints like other things, no fancy gym required! The weekend is hard for me too because at work at least if I'm hungry I sort of have to endure the hunger, but on the weekends there's a lot of food and a lot of spare time.
I have trouble with head hunger, not necessarily whether I'm hungry or not, but how much I need to feel full. There's some switch in my brain that thinks I won't have enough food and I'll be hungry (like I have to get the 12 in sandwich and chips because 6" won't filll me up). Of course I am stuffed afterwards and there's no scarcity of food if I were still hungry...
