BG you are such a doll. All the advice you give has helped out tremendously. I have all my paperwork all in one folder so I try and keep everything together. I just called my surgeons office just to make sure they received my Progress notes from my PCP on the 1st month. The bariatic coordinator said she received it and everything looks perfect. I was about to fall out of my chair. ALL because of everyone here, my PCP took great notes. BIG THANKS GOES OUT TO MY FAVORITES 6 MONTHS FRIENDS!!

Hey Ms. Dep!!!!I'm glad you took Sparkles advice because I would have told you the same thing. I know what you mean about clothes in your closet. I have everything pushed out of my way that I can not fit. Good luck on your appointment.

Welcome Prickly to our 6 month TT Family!!! I would suggest that you do not skip any month at all. I have to agree with Sparkles that normally the text says consectative months. Good luck and keep in touch!!!

Bucks, first, WELCOME to the TT boards!!! This forum has helped me whenever I’ve had questions.
I had my first visit with the surgeon in November 08. My insurance at the time did not require the 6 month physician supervised diet. However, January 1, 2009; the requirements for surgery changed. I still have the same insurance, but now insurance is requiring me to have that 6 month diet. It’s not so bad though. It actually makes you a little more aware of everything that goes in your mouth. I just wish they would have told me sooner, rather than later.
My advice to you is to contact your PCP, and set up an appt (after you’ve spoken to your surgeon and insurance company about it). That way, you will be one step ahead of where I was. I couldn’t get an appt with my PCP until February (after finding out in January about the diet). So it put my surgery date off a little, but it’s worth it in the end. It’s just solidified my decision a little more. I feel more comfortable knowing that ALL of my doctors are completely aware of my decisions to go through with the surgery and the progress along the way.
Good Luck with your journey! WELCOME!!!
The journey of a thousand miles begins with but a single step!

6 mo diet necessary?
Well, I certainly have enough receipts for Jenny Craig and Weight Watchers etc to qualify if supervised weight loss is what they want. I'm going to wait to talk to the surgeon before I call the insurance company - their scheduler said that she didn't see any provision like that in my policy. Fingers crossed - will find out for sure on Friday. I will still get it done, but I really am ready to get started and will be very frustrated to wait. Thanks for all the help and advice, I've been hanging around reading posts for a couple of weeks before I finally made up my mind to move forward and I can say that there isn't one question I had that wasn't addressed somewhere on these boards. Thanks and talk to you all later!!

That's the great part about these boards isn't it...you can get all your questions answered, or get the list of questions to ask your surgeon and as you learn you pay it forward to others starting. Support here is a great thing, especially if you're like me and not telling others (except DH and he's a skinny mini, supportive, but he doesn't really 'get it'). I think putting the time in on the boards has made a world of difference in how prepared I feel for this big change to come...let's face it, we all have a lot of 'head surgery' that needs to be done hand in hand with our surgeries. Anyone who says they got fat just because they like food isn't dealing with the emotional side of things either. Gathering support here has been invaluable. Thanks all. -BG
P.S. Oh, I forgot...I can relate...I'm down to 5 pair of pants and I refuse to buy more!

Good for you!!! That is exactly my thoughts I had my consultation and there is an outlet mall which is a must that we stop by anytime we are on that side of the state. So we stopped and I would have usually went into the LaneBryant Outlet and spent a couple hundred but said “NO Way am I buying more cloths”

OooOo my goodness gracious so my consultation was great! I am really excited! He was very nice, thanks to this board I was able to ask him some great questions and get some great answers. My hubby was able to ask him his own questions like while she is in the hospital can I stay in the room with her. LoL and he said that most bariatric patients at this hospital get their own suite/room. So he didn’t think that would be a problem and he would note my chart prior to scheduling requesting my own room due to the travel involved. He said I am looking at 3-4 days in hospital. Day prior to surgery I would have all my preop testing completed and then the next day we would begin! I met with the insurance coordinator/nurse and she was really confident I had enough documentation to get an approval. So they are waiting for his dictation to come back and they will submit probably by Wednesday. So of course she gave me the number to the direct line to their insurance department to follow up. So I am playing the waiting game kind of. Still pre-tending we aren't submitting to insurance and I have my next PCP visit next month and then I am 1/2 way there regardless!
