How did you pay for your weight loss surgery?

My insurance company approved me very quickly, and my fees were the $500.00 dollar program fee that B & W's Hospital charges and the $250.00 hospitalization co-pay my insurance company charges are the only out of pocket expenses for the surgery itself.

I paid for the surgery myself. Yes, it was a lot of money, but totally worth it and I had the surgery less then a month after I went to the Surgeon's Seminar. Of course they had to make sure I was physically and mentally sound and able to make a commitment, so they sent me to the nutritionist, psychologist and for a physical, but it was all included in the price of the surgery and I didn't have to jump through hoops or wait months to get it.

BCBS paid for mine. I had the co-payment of $1100 that was it.

My insurance is Kaiser, so after I met the 10% weight loss requirement, I was able to have my surgery. The only thing I paid for was the office visit co-pays.

I have Tri-care Prime and was 100% covered. No co-pays or hospital stays that cost any money.

I'm Tricare Prime too - I only had to pay for my 2 night stay in hospital - $22.00 total. I count myself very lucky.

We don't have health insurance here in the UK so I had to self pay - around $20,000. Had to take out a loan to do it but absolutely worth every penny!

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan paid for mine less co-pays and deductible. I had to pay out of pocket for the inital consultation with the surgeon and for the psychological eval.
