1,000 co-pay for surgery
15.00 each time at therapy, 4 sessions in
15.00 Sleep study eval
15.00 co-pay for Surgeon and NUT
15.00 co-pay for referral from PCP

So far that's it but I'm not sure how many doctors visits I'll need to have. I'm very thankful to have BCN- Michigan.

Cheers'

Kimberly~

Well for me it was expensive. I waited to long. I have Aetna PPO and my husband's employer had a 10,000 cap on this type of surgery. If I had done this 3 months earlier then the BCBS would have covered all.
But this was it. I was first billed befor surgery 595.00 to cover my 10percent.
Because the hopital new that my insurance had the cap they went with the contract of 5900.00 per day for hospital stay which included surgery room, lab, bed for one day. Did not include 1900 for anastisiologist which I paid 190 of that. Or Dr. Bobby.
Now Dr. Bobby has a 6500.00 program fee which might seem high but at the time I was so afraid of having the surgery it was worth it. For that I have his personal cell phone number, open door office policy which he never bills my insurance for any office visits. I got my liquid diet, and my visits with his nutritionist, and then theres Woody the work out guy.
I have had problems and have called him and he does answer right away when I went to ER after 6 day post op although I never saw him the ER was on the phone getting instructions for everything. Nothing was done without hhis aproval and he never billed me.
All and all I am very happy but now that I know so much more about the operation when my husband gets it we will research other options for Dr. only because common 6500.00?

We have socialized/national healthcare but I self paid. I didn't want to wait the 2.5 years on the waiting list. Cost about $16,000 all included. Took out a bank loan.

HealthNet of California payed 100%. I have paid about $20 in office co-pays and that is it! Love that Sacramento City Teachers Association and our insurance benefits!

Polly,
I have United also and I'm waiting for approval. They pay 80%. Is that what your insurance paid? I'm just trying to guess what I may have to pay out of pocket.

Thanks

Paid for the lap band myself after my insurance refused payment.
If I decide to replace it with GBP, my new insurance will cover it no problem.

Medicare paid for mine, and my supplement (which is totally free for us retired military, Tricare for Life) paid the balance that Medicare didn't pay. I have paid ZERO out of pocket.

Having said that, knowing what Iknow now, I would have found a way to pay for it if I had to, out of pocket. It has changed my life, my quality of life.
