I have BCBS of Michigan State Health Plan PPO (husband is a state employee). They had a 12-month requirement when I first sought WLS last year, but in January 2008 they changed to 6. I hope that's also true of your plan. You could call them and ask if no one replies.

Good luck!

I have BCBS Michigan PPO. I work through the IBEW Local 58. When I started the process of the surgery it was 12 months, then in January they changed it to 6 months. Better than changing it to 18 months. I don't know if your would be different but I don't think by too much if any. PM me if you need more info on the insurance end.

it's 6 months as of Jan08 and if your BMI is 50 or more the 6th month diet is waived.

Cheers,

Kimberly~
