For those of you who have had surgery already and well may those that haven't either.......my question is this.......

Wellmark BCBS is requiring for approval for WLS, one must have had 3 years Dr. supervised diet. 3 YEARS!!!

Has anyone that has this been able to get around this? I have had at least 1 year of weight management with my Endocrinologist already. But 3 years seems to be a "forever" time.

I have everything else ready to go to the insurance company but this!

Any info?

I've been approved for surgery on April 16th through HIGHMARK (not WELLMARK) BCBS (of Pennsylvania). I had to do a six month medically supervised diet, with a whole bunch of tests, psych approval,etc. but NOT three years! Wow, that sounds awful.

current wt, 7/07/09: 203 lbs.
Doctor's goal weight: 200 lbs.
my personal goal: 160lbs

Yeah.......I've done all the other things that were required before submitting to insurance except that. All the other tests won't be done until I get approval, but looks like at this rate who knows if/when that will be.

I'm glad that you have your's scheduled and look forward to hearing about all your successes.
