cindy, if i offended you? tough

haha.

this newbie seemed to have nothing but negative energy. i hate people that come here and go 'i ate a whole slice of pizza .. or my doc is so mean cos he wont do surgery cos i gained weight' and do not expect people to freak out.

this is a surgery that comes with a lot of stigma && negativity attached.. we have to already work SOOOOOO hard to prove ourselves... it sucks when you have ppl coming in here, not following the rules or thinking this is some quick fix and that they can have pizza 3 months post op.

HERES THE DEAL IF I AM GOING TO HAVE PIZZA.. IM NOT GOING TO COME ON HERE AND TELL YOU GUYS.. lol.. because i knowwww i will get a response.

And this is why the quote function is so very handy.

Hey Kelly...I had a cookie tonight. But the baby wanted it, so I was just letting her have it. I wanted blueberries, but being a good mommy, I let the baby have what she wanted.

When I mentioned "red flag," I was referring to the person like the originator of this post, who poses a certain position, which in my mind wasn't a good mind set. Her post indicated red flags in general, and the one that cinched it for me was the 15 lb. weight gain. Clearly one can get their heads on straight, as you obviously have, after that weight gain - it is the entire picture that I was referring to.

A weight gain, at any time in this process, is, and will always be, a warning sign -- now this is for ME - I'm not saying it's true of the rest of the world.

Please accept my apology, Cindy, if I have in any way offended you.

Claire
NO NO NO...NOT AT ALL...PROMISE!!!!!! (exclamation points for my Trina). I wasn't trying to call you out on the "red flag"...I was just saying that yes I gained weight... I pigged out before surgery... I had my reasoning and found out later it was for not since I can eat whatever I want now...I didn't need to eat everything under the sun during those 6 months, but I panicked about losing my friend (food) and wanted to go out with a bang.

and... I think the world of you too, but you should know that by now!!

God, I love your guys!!!!!!!! If people are looking for someone to just hold their hand and agree with them when they are doing themselves harm, I'm not going to do it. I will be kind, considerate, compassionate, supportive, and sensitive to their needs but I'm also going to be honest and blunt if I have to. There are exceptions to every rule. And yes, there are a small, handful of medical conditions that will give people a hard time to lose weight, but that too is the except to the rule. If she really wants this, she will come to realize that she needs to buckle down and just do it. She may not be inthe right place of mind for this or doing it for someone else or the wrong reasons. I wish her the best. But, if you ask for an opinion or help, you need to be willing to listen as well and not get mad if you don't hear what you want to. Sue

I also gained weight before my surgery......it was an innocent, ignorant mistake, but it did almost jeopardize my surgery date.
About 6 weeks before surgery, I discovered the joys of coffee. I had NEVER been a coffee drinker before, but all of a sudden I fell in love with iced coffee from McDonald's. The amount of energy they gave me was huge, I thought I was doing soooo much better than drinking my normal soda choice and I was nowhere near as savvy as I am now of reading labels. Since I wasn't a typical coffee drinker, I had no idea how sugar laden these drinks were. This was almost all I was ingesting at the time, but holy cow I was drinking 6 of them a day. It was only after I went to the doc at three weeks pre-op with a 10 pound weight gain that the light bulb went off. I was taking in more than 1600 calories a day in coffee drinks alone!!! Anyhow, I started Optifast that day and was able to loose almost 15 pounds in three weeks. I was able to keep my surgery date and I am soooooo careful these days about what I put in my body.

I've read this thread and IMHO jerseygirl684 is a b$#ch and very rude. Obviously, she's trying to act like the tough little chicken sh&t she's not. Normally, people that like themselves don't react the way she does. If these are the kinds of people on this site, I, as well as others, can do without them. It's too bad jerseygirl684 makes this site seem so unsupportative. For the rest of you, thanks for shareing your information. For anyone interested in another site, go to: ObesityHelp.com
