Hey Cindy... How were the rooms?? Nice? Can you have a loved one stay over with you?? Do they make you get up and walk the same day of surgery? How about the breathing tube? Is it gone when you wake up? I'm really nervous about that and the cathader (sp?) Is that enough questions for you??? lol

The rooms were okay... I had a roomate the first day and then that night they moved me to a private room. I don't believe a loved one could stay over, but I didn't push the issue because my Hubby had to be with our kids in the late evening. My surgery was scheduled for 1pm...they took me in a little early and I was out of recovery and in my room by 4 or 5...its been so long the memory is fading...I do know I got up to walk the first time around 4:00am. No breathing tube...never saw it/felt it go in and didn't see it or feel it coming out. For me the cathader was NOTHING... they took it out around 10am and I didn't feel a thing. Any more questions?? Keep them coming, I am glad to help!

people who are still fooling themselves about why they are overweight, are NOT ready for surgery.
Sure, some people have medical conditions, but not the growing obese population in this world...
it's not all "medical" - sure we have medical problems NOW..b/c we are FAT.
and if someone cant handle the truth about their weight and their "issues"....they cant handle the lifestyle changes demanded by this surgery.
We are fat b/c we like food and dont move enough to offset what we eat....period.
we made bad choices for whatever reason..now we need this TOOL to get us healthy.
If you cant lose a small amount on your own and you have NO documented medical condition..you are NOT ready for surgery.
a big ole poop to get rid of the $hit some folks are full of might take care of their pre-op weight loss
*shrug*
I'm just sayin....

This is the running amount of money saved by not having to spend so much eating out. Number based on spending $20 a day on food. And that very conservative!!!

I am 2 years out. I was done losing a long time ago. This is to help me cut my carbs out and get back to basics. If losing goes along with it (and it better) then I will be a happy lady.

I have no idea where Relands is??? But I would love to meet up some time. No, there was no liquid diet, but there are restrictions on what you can eat the week or 5 days leading up to surgery. I know the day before was liquid and you have to drink the poop juice.

SO this is my problem. I have gained weight during the 6 months of nutirtional classes. The weight management center told me today they won't even submit me to the insurance company unless I can lose 10 pounds because I will be turned down. I started at 247 and am now weigh 262. Has anyone else had this happen? I can't believe 15 pounds will keep me from having surgery.
I feel rotten about this!
That was my original post. It has caused a $#i! storm. After several responses from other users I removed my post. I felt that several people who responded were not sensitive to the specific problem that I was struggling with and I was not comfortable with my original post being available for all readers. Because of the high amount of people who messaged me privately because they too has struggled with gaining weight before surgery, I felt it was important that I repost the original question.
When I posted my original question, I wanted to connect with other's who were struggling with weight gain during the 6 months of supervised diet. I was NOT looking for comments from people who did not know why or how I had gained weight. To make it clear to everyone I did diet and exercise. I gained weight following the program. You can say that's bull but prior to entering the 6 m of supervised diet and nutrition I was taking meridia and orlistat. I was fat, my blood pressure was sky high and I had been on a low calorie diet for months. I decided to follow the program and I gained weight on it right away.
To be clear- I did not remove the original post because I am sensitive. I was FURIOUS more than anything. I was furious that I had other people message me privately because they felt they could not truthfully post because they did not want to be bullied, judged, or belittled by other members.
I was furious that I was followed from board to board by some people. I removed my post and stopped posting to prevent myself from saying something nasty and hurtful to some of the people who had responded to my post.
In my opinion being honest and being a self declared bitch are two very different things. I don't have to become accustom to anything on this forum. I will not accept that it is ever appropriate to speak to people without respect. I am going to try my hardest to be cautious, truthful, caring, and supportive whenever I possibly can on this forum.
What I have learned from all of this is how to block some users. I highly suggest learning how to use this function. We are all very different people. Despite all having WLS (or thinking about it) our paths to surgery and after will not be the same. I expect to find many people that I relate to and connect with on this forum. I don't expect to connect with everyone. I am so glad I learned to block users, because now I don't have to deal with them. I believe that is a loss to them. I have a lot to offer others who respect me, ask questions, and don't jump to negative uneducated conclusions about me.
This is a forum for support. People should lighten up and be sensitive to others no matter where they are in the journey.

OMG! How on earth did I miss this thread? (Was I drinking again? )
If you do not want to hear other people's opinions.. DON'T ASK FOR IT! I had to lose 10% for my surgery. If I didn't, or if god forbid - I gained. NO SURGERY. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. This is a lifetime commitment. LIFETIME. Show the commitment now and you will have a higher chance of success. Too many people don't "commit" to this lifestyle and this results in WLS getting a bad rap. (they gain it all back... they eat too much and their pouch "explodes", etc)
I TOTALLY AGREE WITH KELLY. SHe's not a bitch. SHe's blunt. She's honest. She's not a sugar-coated. She's ME 16 years ago. (when I just a youngen)
If you want someone to hold your hand and tell you it's okay to gain weight, good luck finding them. You aren't going to find them here.
THAT was the truth. Like it or lump it.
