All the B.S., name calling and hurt feelings aside, be grateful that you didnt go through Kaiser, they make yo attend a 6 month "options" class prior to approval.

I shouldn't say "grateful" n a negative way as I feel I would not have wanted to undertake this process without the information and knowledge I obtained through the classes.

That aside, Kaiser requires you to loose 10% of your starting weight, period, if you attend all 26 classes, and don't loose the weight, they will NOT approve you.

And after approval the surgeon sees you and weighs you again, and inform you simply " don't gain any weight". Are they serious, YES, one girl gained 2 pounds, and was at the pre op meeting the day before her date, and the surgeon sent her home, and told her to come back when she was serious.

MONEY IN THE BANK TO DATE......$3920
This is the running amount of money saved by not having to spend so much eating out. Number based on spending $20 a day on food. And that very conservative!!!

Hi Baja-

I have Kaiser and they arent MAKING us lose 10%. I go to the Fontana center. I have gained and lost the same 15 pounds I came in with. They arent going to kick me out nor are making me lose 10%. That might be an old rule. BUT when you finally get to meet with the surgeon you cant gain an ounce. Not always but mostly that is for safety reasons not commitment reasons.

Anywho...I'm half way through the reguired 6 month classes and I'm doing well on my pre-op diet now. Better late than never!

I attended classes in Orange, and they were anal about the 10%, I finished classes in December, but had to wait until late Jan to make up one class, (Plan ahead if your going to miss a class!!) because they will NOT budge on this one!

You will probably have surgery in San Diego, they have been offering surgery at UCLA, but only heard one having it don't there, and with negative results. Tow women that had surgery the same day I did were from Alto Loma and one from Fontucky.
