Default Dr. in Los Angeles that accepts Pacificare HMO for GPS??

I have been trying to find a surgeon that accepts Pacificare HMO Signature Value Plus insurance for GBS. My insurance company claims they cover it but can't give me a name of a doctor that accepts it. I have been trying for 2 years to get this surgery and I am at my wits end. PLEASE can anyone lead me in the right direction. I also need a primary care physician in the same network as the surgeon. This is so frustrating.

I went through my PCP who referred me to Stanley Klein in Torrance. Not sure if he takes your exact insurance plan, but tat he time I had Blue Cross. Your PCP should be able to give you a good referral to start with...

Worst case scenario, Dr Mueller @ Sharp in San Diego accepts it. Approval was FAST too.

I have Pacificare HMO and was referred to Cedars-Sinai center for weight management. They have several doctors there - mine is Dr. Nishe. I live in Ventura and my PCP wrote the referral request specifically to Cedars and everything has been covered so far. I'm just waiting for the final approval for the Lap Band Surgery.

Good luck to you.

You don't say where in LA you are.

I use Facey Medical Group, in Mission Hills, with an office in Northridge and Porter Ranch. Facey has a HUGE bariatric program and, after taking a 6 month training program for WLS, refers it's patients to either Dr. Paya's group in Northridge (where I went) or Dr. Qualici in Burbank.

Good Luck.

Default Just caution

Hey guys, be careful when naming Primary Treating doctors or Family Doctors name on line who promote WLS, PM people if possible if they post the question. Insurance companies do not like it when there may be one great doc out there that promotes and believes in it!

We wish to protect the innocent.

I don't understand how me mentioning a large medical group or 2 surgeons that work in Centers of Excellence in bariatrics would be a bad thing, and I have been working in the medical field and managed care (HMO/PPO) for 35 years. :shrugs:

Sorry if I offended any individual in any way.
