GOOD NEWS: Yesterday Barix called me to give me a heads-up that BCBS of Michigan is changing the requirement to only 6 months as of 2008. That means that at my January appointment I can request that my PCP write my letter of recommendation. YAY!
I was being patient, knowing that it took me longer than 12 months to put on this weight, and I was also being a Good Girl. I lost 15 pounds since July, doing nothing more than avoiding all processed foods (fast foods, prepared foods, etc.), and learning to cook EVERYTHING from scratch (bread, mayonnaise, soups, etc.). I figure that I might as well get used to monitoring my food now so that after surgery it's not such a shock.
Just thought I'd share! I'll post when I've gotten approval (being optimistic here!).

Also, for those with a BMI of 50 and greater, that 6 month period of time is waived, however; you still may need to do it to meet the criteria of the clinic. But knowing the insurance red tape hassle is taken care of is peace of mind.

Hey Kimberly!
You stated that Also, for those with a BMI of 50 and greater, that 6 month period of time is waived, however; you still may need to do it to meet the criteria of the clinic. Is this true for BCBS?
