What an interesting journey, Valerie! And I think your decisions have been very sound along the way. Good for you!!!

I am almost 13 months post op, and I would say that probably in the last ocuple of months there is no question that I could dive and do very physical things. I healed in a "normal" manner with only one little bump in the road that was easily fixed (stricture). Now I feel as though I can do anything!!!! No question in my mind that you will be able to be a very active diver in another year!

Best of luck to you!

Thanks for the positive thoughts! I really appreciate it.

I know that I have done my "homework" on this subject and done it well to boot. I did start out wanting the lapband and learned that it wasn't for me and I knew that I would fail at it too. I started looking into the Lap RNY and learned that it WAS for me...and currently I'm waiting for the insurance company to say "yes".

I can't wait to lead a healthier and WAY more active lifestyle, including diving again.

Well once you are ready to dive again, you look me up, ok! :-) I would love to be your post-op dive buddy since you are so close! It would be great to dive with someone who is experiencing the same things that I am! I am mostly concerned about getting my weight right! Right now I dive in salt water with 18-22 lbs. It's gonna be weird trying to get this right again! I recently bought my first BC, which is adjustable. it fits anyone from a skinny 13 year old boy, to a 400 lb girl (I say girl because we need extra boob room!). I am glad I made that choice so I won't have to buy a new one post-op!!

My BC in adjustable also. The last time I went diving in salt water, I used 12lbs (when I was 50lbs lighter). It will be very interesting to see if I can use that again...or even less. I have all of my own equipment also, including 2 tanks.

Yes, keep my name as well. I'm really interested in getting back into diving again.
