Default Need help finding insurance?....

ok, found this website

www.ehealthinsurance.com

Very easy website to use, create free account, input basic information, a list of several insurance plans along with details and pricing are shown. Best plans for me are either BlueCross or United Healthcare, both because of low monthly payments and low deductibles.

Hope this helps, and keep it bumped! :-)

I'm looking and looking, but I'm not finding any insurance plans that don't specifically exclude bariatric surgery.

It seems to me that many of the insurances exclude bariatric surgery outright, when you first look . However if you look harder, there is a codicil. This is how my plan words it in their exclusion list:

Services or supplies in connection with weight loss, except for one surgical treatment per lifetime if
Medically Necessary for treatment of Morbid Obesity. The treatment must be pre-authorized by Aetna
and will be subject to the guidelines of the National Institutes of Health.

I had to dig to find that...in their summary, they list bariatric surgery as excluded. It's only as you hit the 108th page that they fill in the blank...that they will cover one surgery in a lifetime if determined medically necessary. Keep digging. Insurances will pay...look at all of us here that have had the surgery thanks to our insurance companies.

Goal! I did it!
105 pounds gone since my RNY
119 total pounds gone forever!
I finally have a "normal" BMI
Reached my first goal of 145...and setting a new one of 135.
Reached 135 and have decided to lose another five if I can.

I'm in the 130's for the first time since puberty!

Mine says under exclusions:

"Surgical and non-surgical treatment of obesity, including morbid obesity."

I could find nothing more after searching all 154 pages of the health care summary...

Could this be twisted to say they would cover the surgery to treat co-morbidities, just not obesity alone?
