Default Insurance

Hi Cindy,

I have Mercy (MedClinic) through my Husbands work. They do cover the surgery if you qualify. I had to pay $500.each day in the hospital as my copay but that was so well worth it! You also have to do a 6m diet with the dietitian.

Good luck!

I currently have Aenta and it is totally excluded from the policy! I think that the insurance companys are cracking down. I had no problems with Harvard Pilgram. They approved me within same day. Great for me, thank God!

I have Aetna and it was covered. Your employer can choose to have a clause written into the policy declining coverage of that surgery for whatever reason. There is somebody at my office currently doing the 6 month required diet so that she can have the surgery and she was told that it would be covered.

It also depends on the state you are in.... you just have to research your own insurance. ;(

I had my surgery last year and BC/BS paid 100% of the cost. Mine was a PPO, maybe yours is a HMO. Dont know the dif between yours and mine.

Good luck,

Joe

Actually, the difference is not by state.. it is by COMPANY. You have to investigate each policy at your/hubbie's company

It's also by state...when I began my journey I spoke with Aetna and they told me California has very specfic laws regarding them not being able to exclude it.... unless it was excluded by the company.
