Default What do you think ?

39 (Section 2: What's Not Covered--Exclusions)

9. Non-surgical treatment of obesity, including morbid obesity.
10. Surgical treatment of obesity excluding severe morbid obesity
(with a BMI greater than 35).

Does this sound like I would be covered if my BMI is 45 ?

To me it sounds like you would be covered with a BMI of 45. You should know that pretty much ALL insurance requires a 6 month doctor supervised weight loss effort as of January 1st. If you are serious about this, you should see your PCP and get going! oh and WELCOME!

You're welcome...it also might be a good idea to call the insurance company to find out exactly what they need. Do you have any co-morbidities? Problems from being overweight, like sore knees ankles, sleep apnea, high blood pressure...

Unfortunately my insurance doesn't cover the surgery. I did a little research and found that my husband's insurance does cover it. Now I'm trying to find out if this is going to be considered pre-existing and if so, how long is the pre-existing exclusion period. I sure hope that we can just switch over to his insurance and get the ball rolling.

I've been contemplating this for years and now I'm ready.
