Default Aetna PPO

Anyone with experience with Aetna PPO?
Just curious how it went for you.
I want this surgery so bad I'm not sure I have myself truly prepared if I'm turned down.

Thanks, Jamie

I had Aetna HMO and had absolutely no problem at all. Cindy also had Aetna HMO and she had to do a 6 month diet before hand. I've heard that approval through a PPO is actually easier than with an HMO. Good luck to you.

I had Aetna PPO and I had to hire a lawyer to get my surgery covered. The lawyer had sent several appeals and we were denied. My lawyer then submitted it to the California Insurance and they agreed I should have this done. Therefore, Aetna had to pay for the surgery.

I went through Walter Lindstrom. Here's his website: http://www.obesitylaw.com/contact.php

Hope this helps.

Default Aetna PPO

I will be starting a new job tomorrow and I will be able to purchase Aetna insurance for a very fair price. I also have Regence BlueShield through my husband's work. I called Aetna today and the woman said they will cover it if it is deemed medically nessisary. I am wondering what is the differance between the pople with Aetna PPO. Could it be lower BMI? Would they make a person with a lower BMI go through a 6 month supervised diet?

We have Aetna PPO. It was super easy. From start to finish it took me about 4 months to get my surgery date. I only had to do 3 months of the dr. supervised diet.

Have aetna PPO as well ~ started out that they asked for three month supervised diet ~ BUT ~ atthe end of the three month they informed me policy changed and PPO now require six months supervised diet... this was July last year ~ I did the extra three months and had my surgery in Oct of last year... I would ask for DETAILS when you call and get the policy paragraph title and number to look at the rules for yourself ~

You must call your insurance and get your particulars...we all might have the same insurance, but the rules still change....from employer to employer and from state to state rules differ.
