Group Created by fisher1000

How many of us are in Western New York? Maybe this would be an easy way of finding where everyone is and planning a get together!

    Hello,

I joined thinner times a month or so ago and read it religously every Sunday a.m.--only time I have time to mysellf! I usually read and don't write--it is kind of intimidating for me to open up so today I decided that I need to be more open and go for it.

I have finally met with my surgeon, Dr. Caruana's partner, who I will call Dr. Z because I will butcher the spelling of his name. I have to say that it was a great experience. The nurse assigned to me had very similar problems--rheumatoid arthritis and was very helpful in telling me what to expect to help and what will remain the same. My surgery date will be around September 8th--I have to wait 4 weeks after my Remicade infusion in August and I was happy to hear I could go back to work 2 weeks pre-op with no heavy lifting. Only one appointment left and that is with the nutritionist tomorrow.

I have set certain goals going forward as to try and make post op life easier for me. I have stopped snacking on bad stuff and I have cut down on diet pepsi--I very rarely drink it anymore. I have switched to diet raspberry ice tea. I have been upping my water intake and joined the gym down the street from my house today. I am going to stop in and make an appointment to have a one on one with them to custom a workout for me considering my arthritis and certain limitations due to that. I go on vacation to Conesus Lake in two weeks and when I return I plan on following a lower carb, sugar free diet to also get ready for September.

    Good Luck to all!

Hi-I had lapband surgery 6/12/08. I live in Westfield, NY so my surgery was done at Hamot Hospital in Erie, PA by Dr. Ali. I lost 15 pounds and am now moving on to the Phase II diet of pureed food. Does anyone have any recipes or found foods that are agreeable with the diet rules and my stomach.

    Hi everyone!

I am not from Buffalo, but from Rochester. Born in Medina, and raised in Lyndonville, however.

I haven't had the surgery yet, either. My informational seminar is June 11, 2008, at Highland Hospital, with Dr. Joseph Johnson. Would be very curious to hear peoples' experiences going thru the surgery.

Hi all. My name is Vicki. I live in the Rochester area and am not a loser just yet, but am on my way. My journey started in April '08, so I have a ways to go. My surgeon is Dr. Thad Boss out of Highland Hospital. I haven't met him yet because he was sick the day of the seminar, but I hear he's good. I'll probably have my surgery sometime in the fall.

I joined. I don't live in Western NY but I have a vacation home on the Warren Co/NY border. I spend a lot of time enjoying Jamestown, Chautauqua and Salamanca. Do you mind if I crash your party?
