Ok Guys, what do I have to do to become one of you nutty wonderful folks and can I be momma bear.

I am so glad I found this group. I live in Ohio, there is no support groups in my area. I had the gastric bypass in 4/2004 in Warren, MI. Feel like I have been on my own for 4 years. I have done well. Starting weight was 260, went down to 128. But the last 6 months I have been slowly putting some weight back on, about 12 pounds. This worries me. I do not eat sugar or drink any soda. My problem is breads, chips etc... I wish I had a support group. After all this time I feel I need someone to talk to more than ever.
Hope you have some suggests on how to stop the maddness.

I love this idea! Many thanks to Eseret and Gwen! Hmmm, and I'm a "wannbe bad girl"? What do I have to do to be a REAL bad girl? ...what would a bad bear do...have to go to the back of the cave and think some bearish thoughts...

First, welcome to the forum and to The Clan of the TT Bears! As you have already discovered, TT is a wonderful source of information for either surgery.

I had gastric bypass last August and like you looked at both type surgeries beforehand. I think what convinced me the most is that I wouldn't need to bother with fills, etc. that the LapBand requires and weight loss is a bit quicker with the bypass. (at least for me) The decision is up to you...whatever you decide is best for you...and talk to your doctor...ask him/her to be totally honest with opinions.

About the chicken hubby....I'm sure once he sees your weight come off he'll be ready for surgery!

Having the summer off ton recuperate is great...I did that too as I work at a high school in special education. What do you teach? We have several teachers onboard.

Hello, I found this site and this group. I am impressed and amazed. I am glad to find such a valuable resource. I don't know many people who have gone through this process. Omaha_Jim is hysterical! I enjoyed his blog for the humor and insightful information.

I attended my first meeting in September 2007 and am in the sixth month of the six month insurance mandated diet and exercise program. Process marches on. I am having lots of questions about Lap-Band and Gastric Bypass. How does one decide? I intend to have the surgery in June to use the summer to recuperate. Teaching does have it's benefits... My current leaning is toward Gastric Bypass. Any thoughts?

What other websites provide positive and negative information about both procedures? Most sites have a definite bias, as do doctor websites.

Can someone talk my husband into this surgery as well? The big chicken won't do it.(bkaaaack, the big chicken is typing...)
