Default Oh My Goodness VSG Surgery Date In Sight

Hi All,
I am fairly new here and would like to hear from other members that have had or considering the Vertical Sleeve for WL. After researching all the avenues of WLS and once I found out that my insurance was not covering WLS for me, I found out about VSG and it is going to be more affordable. I have my date setup for 10/20/08 and now that I know the date, reality is hitting hard. I am excited, scared, curious and almost every emotion one can have. I would love to hear from you!

Default Finally I had my surgery

Hi All,
I had my surgery just 2 days ago on 10/20/08. Considering what I just went through, I am feeling good. So far the hardest part besides the pain of the surgery area, is the gas buildup pains. Other then that, it had been going well. Take care to all.

Renee,
I'm sorry but I must've missed your post earlier in the month or I would've responded. I'm so happy that you had the vsg. I'm just over 5 months out with the vsg and I'm down 75 pounds. I've had a lot of ups and downs with emotions but I've always had that even before the surgery. I get real down if I cheat and I'm on top of the world if I stick to the plan. I'm slowly realizing that I prefer to be on top of the world so I'm cheating less often. This is becoming less of a challenge and more of a lifestyle. It truly gets easier and easier. I wish you so much luck with your sleeve and I'm here for you if you have any questions. Lisa

Default Yay...

You are the first person I've seen on TT with the same surgery date! Although we did have different operations, I think the roux-en-y and VSG people still share a lot of the same experiences. For instance, i'm feeling good also but dealing with the gas pains.

What are your stats/where your stats going into surgery???

I am 5'7" by the way....

Renee,

I'm glad everything went well for you, congratulations!, I had my vsg last friday 10/17 and I feel great. For me Saturday and Sunday were the worst but after Monday everyday has been better and better.

Default Thank you

Thanks to all of you that replied. It is great to get to talk with other people that have gone through or will be going through the same thing. Everyday does get better and better. I have also found the last day or 2 I have been dreaming of food, or eating in my dreams... hmmmm I wonder what is on my mind lol.

My pre-op stats are.

Welcome to the wonderful world of VSG land!! The hard part is over and you'll be constantly amazed by the changes you and your body go through. It's gonna be a wild ride but a good one! I'm over a year out now and I love my new life. My stepdaughter had a vsg done about 5 months ago and she's loving it too. If you want to hear more about my past year it's all there on my blog. LOL The address is in my signature.
