somethins stuck!
I was eating some licorice the night before last and didn't chew as good as I should have...It felt like something was stuck in my esophagus for two days...is this a normal thing to happen? I'm kinda worried that I've done something bad to my pouch. I'm almost 4 months out and didn't have any problems until my last fill about a month ago. Every since then I have a much more difficult time eating solids, even when I chew really well. Chicken just doesn't set well at all and I ate it just fine for the first 3 months. Chili has been my best friend lately, it goes down pretty easily...and stays down without being painful! Any ideas?

Licorice? Not a very good choice. Its way too hard to go down besides having no nutritional value. When food got stuck and it was really painful, I had to make myself throw up. But it didn't last days. As long as you are still able to keep food down, you should be fine.
3 years later and I still can't tolerate chicken. So that's normal. Keep cooking it different ways to see what works. Just a word of caution......don't get into the habit of eating soft, mushy foods (chili) because you're having trouble with solids. If you're having too much trouble with solids, you're either eating too fast, not chewing enough, or possibly the fill was too much. But I doubt it.
I understand exactly what you're going through. PM if you want to talk.

Quick change licorice to Lettuce!!!! Hurry, before the food police arrive and we all start arguing! LOL jk
I don't have a band, but I would think that if you can get liquids down that nothing is actually stuck.. But if that feeling persists, I'd call my doctor. It has to be annoying at the very least.

Was the Licorice red or black? Man I used to love the red kind
Anyways, I dunno about with band, the time i got chicken stuck nothing helped til I yakked it up. My doc advised drinking warm water to help said stuck food on down.
Not sure if this works or not, but maybe would help melt the licorice at any rate.
Good luck, stuck is a sucky feeling.

I know...licorice-not the best choice...but I love it so much! It's been the toughest thing for me to let go. :-( Maybe now it'll be a little easier! lol!
Thanks for the advice, I'll give it all a try. :-)

you are over filled a bit hon!! go back to liquids for a few days and then start slowly on soft and work back into it- you will drop a good bit of weight doing this - which is a plus
and stay away from the licorice

If something does get stuck and you cant get it up or down sometimes a gulp of soda water or ginger beer can help fizz it through or bring it up.
