My name is Katy. I am 27 years old, and am contemplating WLS. I was wandering if the Lap Band is better than the GPS. I am 5 ft. 4in. tall and weigh 215. My BMI is 36.6. I have had multiple knee surgeries, have PCOS, osteoarthritis in the medial compartment of my right knee, also have asthma, and premature ventricular contractions. I have tried every diet on the market, walk about 5miles daily and I eat right. I havent been a decent weight since 7th grade. Back then I was 115 lbs and a size 9. Please give me your advice. I go back to my orthopedic doctor Oct. 1st and was going to ask his opinion on WLS. I talked to a bariatric nurse at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas. She told me that osteoarthritis wasnt considered a comorbidity. What should I ask my doctor on Mon.

You and your doctor will be able to discuss the differences in the surgeries and come up for the right one for you. I've looked closely at both, and have decided the bypass is the way for me to go... It's not right for everyone.

My "team" says I don't need to make a final decision until the last minute... so you'll have time to decide.
