Feeling unwell for about 5 days now
Hello
I would like to know if it normal to feel so unwell after just 2 weeks of the band being fitted. I am now managing to have 2 small cans of soup a day spread over 4 meals. I have got really dry skin cant sleep and feel so tired all the time.
I was so unwell yesterday I just cried for hours on end and yet tody I feel tired but not tearful? I havent even got dressed today and it is 11am which is so unlike me.
I am finding the food part okay and am happy the weight is coming off but cant adjust to the extra walking I have been told to start the 10000 steps a day I have only managed to do 6500 and then since then I have been feeling to tired to do anything else.
I would like some advice and support please as I am feeling really low at the moment.
thank you Dianne

Hi Dianne,
The first thought that went through my head was, are you hormonal right now? That could account for feeling tired/blue. I don't know about the diet as things are different in the UK. On week 2 I'm told to start mashed/pureed foods such as mashed potatoes, cereals, eggs, etc. I don't know why they have you follow the liquids for so long.
((((HUGS)))) hang in there...I'm glad the weight is coming off, I hope you start to feeling better and that someone that's been banded already will chime in here.

Thank you for replying
Thank you for taking the time to reply to me I am very grateful. I have to stay on clear liquids for 3 weeks then 2 weeks on soft food then and another 2 weeks back on liquid before the 1st band fill.
I have woke up at 5am today and am determined to get out and about how ever I feel. I have not driven since I came home 2 and half weeks ago so today is the day.
May I ask you if the prot area is still very sore with you? I am finding that very uncomfortable?
I do not have scales in the house and would like to go into town and see if I have lost anymore weight since I was weighed last week. I have read peoples stories on here and some have lost 50lbs in 7 weeks that is so amazing I think. I have lost 12lbs in total I would love to loose that though before the first adjustment.
How are you doing and how long have you had your band if you dont mind me asking.
Many thanks Dianne

Dianne, I am still pre-op (surgery on Monday) so I can't help you there. Hopefully someone else can! I think 12 lbs. is amazing...banding patients do not lose what RNY patients lose over the first year. The statistics are that you will lose 1/2 of your excess body weight-so 50% of what you want to lose-in the first 2 years after banding. Hang in there!

Walking: Think of 10,000 steps as a goal. If you did 6,500 today - try for 6,501 tomorrow!!! Little bits at a time will get you there!
Be STRONG and have FAITH!

Dianne,
Keep going! You don't have to do the 10,000 right now! work up to it, you can do it!
I think your loss is amazing...congratulations!

I'm sorry you feel poorly after surgery. I did also, the port site was sore for about 6-8 weeks and would give me little jabs of pain when I would do something stupid like lean over something. I remember whenI went to pick up my daughter out of her crib and about pee-ed my pants. You always remember stuff like that. When they (md) "install" the port, they have to suture it deep in the muscle tissue so it doesn't move. Unfortunately for me, mine has tilted slightly. Not enough to make fills difficult but it has tilted. I know it's because of the way I've lost fat around my middle. Kind-a un-even but hey... that's my weird bod.
The pain will subside. It just takes time for your body to build up scar tissue around the port site.
As for your diet... Do what the doc says...but...do not be afraid to ask the doc to modify your time line. I was on liquids for just 10 days before I went to creamy/yogurt consis. I was getting hungry between meals, which by the way is a good indicator that you are ready to move on to the next level. Just make sure you get the ok from the doc. As soon as you start eating puree protein you will start feeling better. & only do as much walking as you can. You do engage you abd-muscles when you walk and they are tender because of the port "installation"
keep me updated on your energy level. Ta Ta.

Good Morning
Hello to everyone,
I had a better day yesterday and went for 3 long walks to walk off the thought of food. I managed to do 15000 steps and felt much better but very tired last night but can you believe it I couldnt sleep so have been awake all night lol......
I think the liquids is the hard part but have found a cup of soup tom and beef to be very nive and they are much better with water than the tin soups I have been having, as they are not heavy... I have yesterday to cuppa soups and 3 litres of water and didnt feel hungry at all. I am really not sure how much I should be having and will ring to day and make sure I am having enough but hunger is not there my tummy is always rumbling which I am told means I need a drink?
I have a picture of me but do not know how to resize it to put on the forum can anyone advise me please?
hope you all havea good day Dianne

hungry days are coming
Good Morning to you all
I hope you are all well. I have a busy day today and I will be out from 10am to 6pm tonight doing a charity event with my handmade cards. so taking a few packets of cuppa soup.
I got weighed and have now lost another 7lbs so I am now in total 18lbs off in 3 weeks which is great. I hope that when I start the pureed food on monday it wont go back on. I have another review on 2nd Oct in birmingham then I have my first fill booked 23rd oct.
I fell so much better with this weight gone and really look forward to joining the big loosers on here later in the year. I think I am a little excited which makes me im-patient.
I will be back online 2mor and look forward to hearing your news
have a good day Dianne

Dianne, I hope your day goes well. WOW, 15000 steps!! That is amazing!! Just make sure you don't over do it sweetie. You want to listen to your body. If you start to hurt, rest. I know you are probably feeling impatient but we all have to remember that the weight didn't go on over night and it won't come off that way. As you progress to more solid food I think you will feel better. You have to remember that your body is in shock because you are sending so few calories its way. You may even find that your weight loss slows a little until you can get in more calories but be assured it will come off.
Talk later.
